Pokémon Rate My Team

Around two months ago, I asked to rate my National Dex AG Team, and with the help of Swastik, I made an improved team. After that, I played for a while and it was a success until I got to around the 1600-1700 ladder. I made a few adjustments, and now, here is the new team:

Calyrex-Shadow @ Focus Sash
Ability: As One (Spectrier)
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Astral Barrage
- Nasty Plot
- Psyshock
- Pollen Puff

A late game "cleaner." Calyrex-S can come in on a weakened opponent and get a Grim Neigh boost, possibly sweeping through the enemies team. Astral Barrage is a strong 120-BP Ghost move with no drawbacks, and is a must on every Calyrex-S set. Nasty Plot is used to break stall, and when used on a switch-in can be devastating. Psyshock is Psychic STAB that hits Chansey and Blissey better than Psychic, and Pollen Puff is for coverage against Dark-types. Calyrex can work well under Dynamax after using a Max Mindstorm to prevent priority. Focus Sash is to prevent against getting reverse swept by Ditto, and to almost always set up a Nasty Plot.

Yveltal @ Life Orb
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dark Pulse
- Oblivion Wing
- Heat Wave
- Focus Blast

This is my main Dynamax Sweeper, after a Max Airstream Yveltal can outspeed almost everything. After Dynamaxing, Oblivion Wing can be used to heal health back from Life Orb recoil and other damage. Dark Pulse is strong Dark-type STAB. Heat Wave hits Zacian-Crowned, and Focus Blast is for Tyranitar.

Groudon-Primal @ Red Orb
Ability: Desolate Land
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
IVs: 0 SpA
- Precipice Blades
- Fire Punch
- Rock Tomb
- Stealth Rock

My Stealth Rock setter. After setting up Rocks, Primal Groudon can be an effective sweeper with its strong Dual-STABs, especially in the sun. Rock Tomb is to make up for its zero speed investment, and can hit Zacian Crowned so that Mega Rayquaza outspeeds.

Arceus @ Leftovers
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
IVs: 0 SpA
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Claw
- Extreme Speed
- Earthquake

My main revenge killer and one of my main sweepers. Swords Dance boosts attack, Shadow Claw hits Ghosts like Calyrex-S, Extreme Speed is the main STAB, and Earthquake hits Zacian-Crowned, Primal Groudon, and Necrozma-DM. Leftovers is its only recovery, which helps when being chipped after a Swords Dance.

Xerneas @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Defog
- Aromatherapy
- Moonblast
- Thunderbolt

This team's Defogger and Aromatherapist. Defog removes hazards, Aromatherapy gets rid of status which can harm most of my team, Moonblast is STAB and Thunderbolt is coverage.

Rayquaza-Mega @ Life Orb
Ability: Delta Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
IVs: 0 SpA
- Dragon Ascent
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance
- Extreme Speed

My main setup Sweeper. The main point is to set up Dragon Dance on a predicted Switch-In, and then proceed to destroy everything with Dragon Ascent and Earthquake. Extreme Speed makes it a reliable revenge killer with Arceus.

Most of the time, my team does well except for against Stall. My main questions are:

  • Should I replace Groudon? It hasn't seen that much usage, whereas if I had something like Necrozma-DM, I might be able to better handle threats like Zacian-C. There are also better Rock-setters, so I kind of want to replace it.
  • Should I replace Xerneas? Xerneas hasn't been that good in my team lately, and I think Ho-oh might be a better Defogger, though it does mean I have to get rid of Aromatherapy.
  • Should I get Ditto? Calyrex-S and Zacian-C seem to be getting everywhere, and I think the best way to get rid of them is to just Reverse sweep.

And so there you have it, my improved NatDex AG team. Please give any feedback you can; any suggestions are welcomed.

Your Calyrex-shadow should have 4 defense EVs so you have a chance to survive Marshadow’s shadow sneak. As for Xerneas, it could be replaced by Ho-oh but keep in mind that it does have a 4x weakness to stealth rock, but that’s what heavy duty boots are for.

4 EVS will not help it survive Shadow Sneak...
252 Atk Technician Marshadow Shadow Sneak vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Calyrex-Shadow: 348-412 (86.1 - 101.9%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO
It's even a KO at maximum defense, how do you expect 4 Def EVs to survive?
252 Atk Technician Marshadow Shadow Sneak vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Calyrex-Shadow: 460-544 (134.8 - 159.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
