Hmm. Let’s take a look.
Ariados
It’s base stats are…..a bit low. To say the least. It’s very easy to outspeed and OHKO, and just about any attacker can do that to Ariados. Your team has no mega, so how about Mega Venusaur?
Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain
- Synthesis
- Hidden Power [Fire]
The Smogon set, but instead of a more defensive approach, I took a bulky special sweeper approach. Sludge Bomb is STAB, Giga Drain is STAB and heals you, Synthesis is recovery, and Hidden Power Fire hits the Steel types that otherwise trouble your team. It is gives Chlorophyll before mega evolving in the unlikely situation that you’re in the sun and you want to outspeed something.
Victreebel
It’s speed and defenses are somewhat….mediocre, we already have an attacking Grass/Poison type, and it’s attack stat isn’t good enough to justify using it. How about Alolan Muk?
Muk-Alola @ Iapapa Berry
Ability: Gluttony
EVs: 248 HP / 12 Def / 248 SpD
Careful Nature
- Curse
- Poison Jab
- Knock Off
- Recycle
Smogon’s set. Curse boosts it’s attack and defense, and lowers the speed it doesn’t really need. Poison Jab is STAB, Knock Off is STAB that removes the opponent’s item, and Recycle can get back your Iapapa Berry. With Gluttony, if your HP is reduced to half or less, the Iapapa Berry will heal 50% of your health, so recycling it to keep the great recovery is very helpful.
Crobat
Hmm. Crobat is used more often to utilize it’s stellar speed to Defog away hazards that otherwise give annoying chip damage to teams. So how about we do just that?
Crobat @ Black Sludge
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Defog
- Roost
Again, similar to Smogon’s set. Brave Bird is STAB, U-Turn can pivot away, Defog eliminates hazards, and Roost heals damage dealt by opponents and Brave Bird.
Tentacruel
Well, we already have a defogger in Crobat, so we’re not in need of a spinner. But there is an ever so amazing Water/Poison type that’s not here!! Toxapex is an outstanding wall, capable of stopping many potent sweepers in their tracks. So, let’s take a look at Toxapex, shall we?
Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic
- Baneful Bunker
- Recover
- Scald
Toxic is easy to use, as Toxapex has amazing bulk. Baneful Bunker protects you for a turn while they suffer from poison. Recover allows you to heal off all the damage they tried so hard to deal to you. Scald is STAB and can burn opponents if they aren’t poisoned, and is helpful against opponents that are immune to Poison or strong physical attackers that can actually hit you with a punch hard enough that Toxapex can notice it. Regenerator heals 1/3 of your health upon switching, so your opponent will have to deal with this thing a long time.
Nidoking
Looks good to me. Flamethrower or Stealth Rock are better than Shadow Ball, though, as the former hits Steel and the latter is a helpful entry hazard.
Seviper
Hm. Seviper is pretty much Victreebel without the grass typing. It’s stats aren’t that great.
We have some special attackers already, but nothing physical. How about we use Scolipede?
Scolipede @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Poison Jab
- Megahorn
- Rock Slide
Speed Boost makes your already good speed in a place where it is nigh impossible to outspeed it. Swords Dance boosts your attack. Posion Jab and Megahorn are STABs. Rock Slide covers Fire and Flying, which otherwise give it trouble as a Bug.
Here is your new and improved team! Hope this helps!
