Charizard-Mega-X @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Flare Blitz
- Earthquake

Here as primarily a sweeper but also a wallbreaker. I use it a lot for dealing with Mega Venusaur and Blissey/Chansey, but it struggles a lot against Landorus-Therian. The Jolly Nature is there to outspeeds scarves Landorus-Therian, with the EVs maximising its offensive potential. Dragon Claw and Flare Blitz are there for huge damage with STAB and Tough Claws. Earthquake is there for Heatran.

Landorus-Therian @ Rockium Z
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

There to dish out consistent damage and break holes in the opponent's core. Max speed investment means an out speed or a speed tie with similar Landorus-Therian sets. Continental Crush OHKOs Pelipper, crippling rain teams, and can also be used to deal with Tornadus and Zapdos. Knock off is there for walls such as Chansey which rely on their item, Earthquake deals huge damage, and U-turn is there for utility. Intimidate helps against Mega Medicham and Lopunny, which my team struggles with otherwise.

Greninja-Ash (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Battle Bond
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Ice Beam
- Water Shuriken
- Dark Pulse
- Extrasensory

Plays a similar role to Landorus-Therian, but can sweep far more effectively. Similarly to Landorus, I often use it against Tornadus. Again, the investment is geared to make it offensive as possible. Ice Beam is for Tornadus/Zapdos, Water Shuriken for Heatran and the occasional Volcarona, as well as being useful in finishing scarves Kartana, Dark Pulse is STAB and Extrasensory helps with Keldeo and Toxapex.

Rotom-Wash @ Light Clay
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Def / 252 SpD / 4 SpA
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Will-O-Wisp

This is my lead. The unorthodox set often confuses opponents. The screens lend defensive depth to my otherwise rather fragile team. This is geared up to be versatile in defense, but it is OHKOed by Mega Medicham's High Jump Kick.

Celesteela @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Def / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Toxic
- Flamethrower

Here to give my team some defensive depth. Leech Seed and Leftovers provide recovery, especially when coupled with Protect. Flamethrower is there for Kartana and Ferrothorn. The investment is designed to make it versatile in defence. It is great for both stopping sweeps and late game stalling.

Ace of diamonds (Kartana) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Beast Boost
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Smart Strike
- Sacred Sword
- Leaf Blade
- Knock Off

Here as a late game finisher, once Landorus-Therian, Greninja and Charizard have cleared threats such as Landorus-Therian, Heatran, Magearna, Zapdos, Mega Venusaur, Tornadus and Volcarona.

Overall, the team struggles against Landorus-Therian and Heatran defensive cores when they are coupled with Zapdos and/or Tornadus, as well as Ferrothorn though Greninja is instrumental in dealing with these.

Any advice would be welcome, thanks.

I feel like Celesteela is a major momentum sink for this team here. I reccomend replacing it with Shift Gear Magearna. It gives you defensive utility against Scarf Tapu Lele and can serve as a very dangerous cleaner. I also reccomend swapping out Rotom for Dual Screens Tapu Koko. I appreciate the effort put into the descriptions,  by the way.
I second the above suggestions. Screens is regarded to be niche in Gen 7 OU iirc, so you should bring as many tools as possible to make use of it.
One factor that gives Kartana synergy with Charizard is Defog access, which is missing from the set. It may be worth using even though it can sink momentum.
Most screens teams i've seen have had a screens setter, a rocker, usually lando and 4 setup sweepers. They normally run MGyara, but Zard X is workable as well.

Team with changes: https://pokepast.es/cb7d280313a29cdc
Rotom-Wash -> Tapu Koko
Tapu Koko @ Light Clay
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Taunt
- U-turn
Screens provide this team's setup sweepers with more opportunites to setup. Tapu Koko is better than Rotom-Wash in this role as it can outspeed and Taunt common defoggers like Tornadus and Tapu Fini. U-Turn is used over Volt Switch as it cannot be blocked by ground types like Landorus-Therian and Gliscor.
Celesteela -> Magearna(Shift Gear)
Magearna @ Electrium Z
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shift Gear
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Focus Blast
Shift Gear Magearna provides defensive utility against Scarf Tapu Lele. It can also serve as a devasting cleaner with Shift Gear. Electrium Z lets it break through Celesteela and Toxapex much more easily and synergises with Tapu Koko's Electric Terrain.
Ash-Greninja-> Greninja(Specially Based Protean)
Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
Hidden Power: Fire
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Gunk Shot
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Spikes
This Greninja sets up spikes to weaken Charizard and Magearna's answers like Tapu Fini and Heatran respectively. Gunk Shot lets you lure Tapu Fini. HP Fire can 0hko Scizor. Also consider Extrasensory over spikes if Toxapex proves problematic.
New Set for Landorus-Therian
Landorus-Therian @ Focus Sash
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Explosion
- Rock Tomb
This set serves as the team's dedicated lead. Explosion allows you to dent common walls like Gliscor and opposing Landorus-Therian, which Charizard appreciates. Rock Tomb allows you to keep rocks up against defog Tornadus-Therian.

Thank you, and I hope this helps your team.

Thanks enormously, Cdijk21, but I do just have 1 query. Swapping Rotom for Koko and Celesteela for Magearna, I end up with 3 of my team members weak to ground. Is there any way to rectify this? Many thanks again for all your advice.
You could try using Alolan Ninetales over Tapu Koko. It can hit defoggers with freeze-dry and create opportunities with Hypnosis. It can also offensively check most ground types. You do lose the boost on Mag's Z-Move though. You could also try putting Ice Beam on Greninja. Hawlucha over Kart might also work,  Hawlucha dominates non-Fly-Z Landorus-Therian.
Would you advise running Mega Gyarados over Mega Charizard if I wanted to stick with Magearna and Koko just as it's not weak to ground, or would switching Koko for Ninetales be better?
Mega Gyarados over Charizard is a great idea, go for it.
Great. Thank you so much for all your help.
