When it comes to terrain teams, you usually think of Psychic Terrain, right? Well I decided to build an offensive team based around Rillaboom and its ability Grassy Surge, and somehow piloted it to Top 500 a few days after piloting my DUbers TR team to Top 500.
Ogerpon-Hearthflame (F) @ Hearthflame Mask
Ability: Mold Breaker
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ivy Cudgel
- Grassy Glide
- Focus Energy
- Spiky Shield
One of the many attackers. Focus Energy can help ignore Incin's Intimidate and can guarantee crits with Ivy Cudgel. It can make use of Rillaboom's Grassy Terrain with Grassy Glide too.
Rillaboom @ Clear Amulet
Ability: Grassy Surge
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 108 HP / 252 Atk / 148 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Grassy Glide
- Wood Hammer
- High Horsepower
- U-turn
Star of the show. Clear Amulet let's it ignore Intimidate and stat drops overall. Its EV spread and moveset are direct copies of what Wei Chyr used on his Choice Band Rillaboom to win the 2024 Taiwan National Championship. With a lack of firepower from a lack of Choice Band, I worked more on Rillaboom's defensive capabilities by giving it Tera Water. Grassy Glide and Wood Hammer are self-explanatory with High Horsepower hitting Fire Types for Super-Effective damage with U-Turn providing useful pivoting.
Raging Bolt @ Booster Energy
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 20 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Thunderclap
- Dragon Pulse
- Protect
The team's Special Attacker. Bolt can deal great damage and can work well against Sun archetypes like Chi-Yu Sun and Sun Semiroom and can deal with Rain effectively by removing Rain setters like Pelipper from the field of play almost instantly as well as tanking resisted Rain-boosted Water moves that other Pokemon like Ogerpon can struggle with.
Tornadus @ Covert Cloak
Ability: Prankster
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Icy Wind
- Bleakwind Storm
- Protect
- Tailwind
Basic Speed support. With Farigiraf being a popular option on most teams (not just Trick Room and Semiroom), the team needs assistance with Speed if it can't use Priority. Icy Wind breaks Sash and guarantees a Speed drop or can expose Covert Cloak for future reference. Bleakwind Storm deals good damage and can also lower Speed but at a lower chance, which is why I prefer using Icy Wind to do so. Covert Cloak nullifies the effect if Fake Out and Tera Dark prevents Torn from being Taunted by Whimsicott or other Tornadus that won a Speed Tie.
Sneasler @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Unburden
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dire Claw
- Close Combat
- Fake Out
- Protect
Sneasler as a whole is busted. No-one has any idea what GF was thinking when they made Dire Claw. Fake Out support can allow the team to take a more advantageous position by forcing passive moves from the opponent. Dire Claw, as aforementioned, is stupidly broken with a 50% chance to Sleep, Paralyze or Poison as well as being STAB with Close Combat. Unburden can also be saved by not sending out Sneasler when Terrain is active.
Chien-Pao @ Focus Sash
Ability: Sword of Ruin
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Protect
- Crunch
- Sacred Sword
With the number of Physical Attackers the team has, why not boost their damage? Chien-Pao has incredible damage output and provides great support. Opposing Tornadus and Whimsicott hate this fella since it can secure a OHKO unless they are Sashed, which can be broken with Sneasler's Fake Out.
