It’s been awhile but I’ve developed a new team for Reg M-B. This team started with Staraptor and I’ve built the team from there. (Also names are because 1. I traded the person the pokemom is named after for the Pokemon or. 2 The name makes perfect sense for the Pokemon.)

Apokemongame (Sinistcha) @ Sitrus Berry
Level: 50
Ability: Hospitality
EVs: 32 HP 14 Def / 0 SpA / 20 SpD / 0 Spe
Bold Nature
- Rage Powder
- Matcha Gotcha
- Life Dew
- Trick Room
I added Sinitcha to this team mainly to heal staraptor and help with the rain matchup. Not much more to say.

Ax108 (Staraptor) @ Staraptite
Level: 50
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 2 HP / 32 Atk / 0 Def / 0 SpA / 0 SpD / 32 Spe
Jolly Nature
IVs: 31 HP / 31 Atk / 31 Def / 31 SpA / 31 SpD / 31 Spe
- Close Combat
- Protect
- Brave Bird
- Roost
Staraptor is what I built this team around. Contrary Cc is incredibly powerful and once things that threaten Starptor are removed it’s free to sweep and win games.

Whimsicott @ Focus Sash
Level: 50
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 2 HP / 0 Atk / 0 Def / 32 SpA / 0 SpD / 32 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 31 HP / 31 Atk / 31 Def / 31 SpA / 31 SpD / 31 Spe
- Tailwind
- Moonblast
- Fake Tears
- Tickle
Whimsicott was added to the team to support staraptor. I originally had grimsnarl but found that Whimciotts more offensive presence really helped the team. Im a bit conflicted on wether to use fake tears or protect so advise on that would be much appreciated.

Raichu @ Lum Berry
Level: 50
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 2 HP / 0 Atk / 0 Def / 32 SpA / 0 SpD / 32 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 31 HP / 31 Atk / 31 Def / 31 SpA / 31 SpD / 31 Spe
- Fake Out
- Protect
- Encore
- thunder bolt
This thing is here to deal with Archaludon and rain teams. I don’t use it much and would love to replace it with something else that fits better on the team that can still deal with rain teams. The item is because I can’t think of anything better to give it because sash is already in use.

Garchomp @ Life Orb
Level: 50
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 8 HP / 26 Atk / 0 Def / 0 SpA / 0 SpD / 32 Spe
Jolly Nature
IVs: 31 HP / 31 Atk / 31 Def / 31 SpA / 31 SpD / 31 Spe
- Dragon Claw
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake
- Protect
Garchomp works really well with Staraptor because Comp can fire off Earthquakes without hitting Staraptor. Set is standard except for the spread which is optimized to kill Charizard while maintaining some bulk.

DT (Typhlosion-Hisui) @ Choice Scarf
Level: 50
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 2 HP / 0 Atk / 0 Def / 32 SpA / 0 SpD / 32 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 31 HP / 31 Atk / 31 Def / 31 SpA / 31 SpD / 31 Spe
- Eruption
- Shadow Ball
- Heat Wave
- Overheat
I initially had Ghouldengo in this slot to counter Froslass and Metagross but I found that this thing does everything I wanted Ghouldengo to do better. In addition to countering Froslass and Metagross who both threaten Staraptor this thing can also deal with most Basc end game meaning I don’t need a deticated Basc counter.

Maybe give Raichu it's Y Mega Stone for an extra mega if it looks like Staraptor isn't going to be good, then give it Zap Cannon/Thunder and Focus Blast instead of Thunderbolt and Encore, you can also still bring it with Staraptor if you desperately need Fake Out and Lightning Rod.
Wait wasn’t this the team you used against me? Looks like you changed it :)
Yeah Ive changed it significantly since I played you. Also I’ll try the Y mega stone for now I personally don’t like using mega Raichu Y because it’s so frail and I’d rather replace it in the long run.

Note: I have put certain team members in a different order to explain the team so just keep that in mind. There is no need to give IVs or levels as they can’t be changed in Champions. There is also no need to mention EVs that are set to 0. I only used simple EV spreads but you may change them if you wish.

Staraptor-Mega @ Staraptite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 32 HP / 2 Atk / 32 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Close Combat
- Roost
- Protect

This is the centerpiece of your team, so I am keeping it the same except for a bulkier stat investment. A speed boosting nature isn’t that important as Staraptor is naturally fast and you have tailwind on the team.

Typhlosion-Hisui @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Blaze (Frisk in Bo1 CTS)
EVs: 2 HP / 32 SpA / 32 Spe
Modest Nature
- Eruption
- Overheat
- Shadow Ball
- Solar Beam

You were correct when you said this is a good team member on Staraptor centric teams. Solar Beam gives an additional coverage option into matchups such as rain, and is consistent given Sunny Day activates after switches or mega evolutions.

Whimsicott @ Focus Sash
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 2 HP / 32 SpA / 32 Spe
Timid Nature
- Moonblast
- Tailwind
- Sunny Day
- Fake Tears

Whimsicott is the glue that holds your aforementioned offensive core together. Fake Tears can already boost Staraptor, so Tickle is less important. Instead, Sunny Day helps override weather and boosts Typhlosion’s damage in addition to Fake Tears.

Scizor @ Expert Belt
Ability: Technician
EVs: 32 HP / 32 Atk / 2 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Bug Bite
- Swords Dance
- Protect

Your overall core of Staraptor, Typhlosion, and Whimsicott is good, but lacking against certain matchups. Expert Belt Scizor aims to fix certain matchups such as the one against Mega Floette or Farigiraf TR. Swords Dance can be swapped out for Dual Wingbeat for more flexibility but was chosen because it can decimate teams without an answer to Scizor.

Farigiraf @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Armor Tail
EVs: 32 HP / 2 Def / 32 SpA
Modest Nature
- Twin Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Helping Hand
- Trick Room

Farigiraf is another teammate that really appears based on the matchup. Thunderbolt helps a lot into rain (including Zard-Y rain). Twin Beam is becoming a better choice as more and more Focus Sash Venusaur or Snealser pop up.

Garchomp @ Life Orb
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 2 HP / 32 Atk / 32 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Stomping Tantrum
- Rock Slide
- Protect

Garchomp was on the original and remains an effective attacker against common threats such as Zard-Y or opposing Garchomp, outspending them with a jolly nature.

All in all, while Staraptor is not the best mega in Champions, it is seeing an increase in usage. This team is one of the best ways to use it outside of being a secondary mega on sand teams.

The nature on staraptor is so I can stay faster than things like Garchomp without setting Tailwind because whim typically likes to tickle staraptor as much as possible. The attack boosts from tickle are actually really important because they allow Staraptor to pick up a ton of one shots on things like Metagross i wouldn’t otherwise be able to kill easily.  Because I plan to keep tickle I’m not going to change the Typhlosian set but I will play around with the other 2 Pokemon you suggested.
Weather is kind of important… Boosting Staraptor is not always the best option, and it is a mega that wants staying power rather than immediate knockouts. If the rest of your team lacks support or Staraptor goes down because you didn’t fully invest in HP you are in for a rough time. Sunny Day sets have the highest win rate in tournaments.
