Will this work on archeops?

i am in a double battle with an Beheeyem and archeops. my Beheeyem knows simple beam. if it uses simple beam on archeops, then archeops' ability will become simple, negating defeatist's effects, making archeops a killer even when it loses half hp. right?

But it doesnt work to a pokemon with truant or multitupe.
Also, simple doubles the stage boosts, so having honeclaws would be good
