PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

All in the question really. Since the Steel-Nerf in X and Y, Ghost type Pokemon have become an insanely powerful type; resisted only by Dark and Normal.

So I'm looking for a defensively bulky Normal type that is NOT Slaking. With suggested movesets please! Thank you!

There's bulky as in tanks, and bulky as in walls.

Wall

image
Chansey @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Sp. Def
Nature: Bold
- Heal Bell
- Wish
- Protect
- Toxic/ Stealth Rock/ Seismic Toss

Still a great wall, but now she has to fear Knock Off.

Furfrou @ Leftovers
Ability: Fur Coat
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Sp. Def
Nature: Impish
- Return
- Cotton Guard
- Toxic/ Thunder Wave
- Roar

I mean, I guess you could go for a RestTalk set on Furfrou, but that would either mean being taunted or forfeiting a status move & Roar. Or you could bank on Furfrou surviving and just have Rest without Sleep Talk.

Tank

image
Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 144 HP, 188 Def, 176 Sp. Def
Nature: Careful
- Curse
- Body Slam
- Earthquake/ Crunch
- Rest

Classic Curselax; the set itself is pretty self-explanatory.

Porygon2 @ Eviolite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Sp. Atk
Nature: Modest
- Recover
- Ice Beam
- Thundebrolt
- HP Fire/ Toxic

Aka, duck tank. Either HP Fire for some additional coverage on stuff like Ferrothorn, or Toxic to stall. Trace is more useful imo if you're using it defensively because it can trace stuff like Poison Heal or Flash Fire.

Chansey also has to fear Taunt if she doesn't have seismic toss
You also forgot lickilicky :(
Lickilicky is okay in the lower tiers, but generally speaking, if you can use Chansey/ Blissey, they're preferred.

Also for the majority of time, you're gonna switch out Chansey if something taunts her. Your opponent's just going to use her to set up or something.
Great Answer, but I decided - in the end - to go with Miltank.
Well it depends on your tier as well; in NU, Miltank and Lickilicky are pretty much your only choices.
I don't pay attention to tiers, and niether do my friends. It's just he gets heal bell, milk drink; and it seriously annoys one of my friends - he had massive trouble with Whitney. It's funny.

Well, Snorlax has a 160 Base HP ,and a Base 110 SDef. I suggest using a Snorlax for Tanking.

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ability: Immunity
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Atk / 96 Def
Nature: Adamant
- ThunderPunch
- Ice Punch
- Curse
- Body Slam

Since Snorlax already has a base 110 SDef, we should invest in Defense. That way, it can always tank some strong fighting moves like Close Combats and such.
