I'm not sure what you mean. Related in terms of what? It's a little vague
Never mind I just thought because they were introduced in the same Gen evolved in the same way I thought there might be a connection

It is kind of mixed really.

They are related because

  • They share the same typing, Ghost / Grass.
  • Both evolve from their previous form via trading.
  • Gourgeist and Trevenant both learn type-changing moves, Trick-or-Treat and Forest's Curse.
  • They are listed together in the Pokedex, Phantump and Trevenant as 708 and 709 and Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist as 710 and 711.

They are unrelated because

  • Gourgeist and Pumpkaboo are based off Halloween pumpkins, whereas Trevenant and its pre-evo aren't based on anything like that.
  • Gourgeist and Pumpkaboo come in different sizes. Trevenant and Phantump don't.
  • They have different base stat totals (494 for Gourgeist in all of its sizes and 474 for Trevenant), which would be strange if they were related as most Pokemon that are related to another have similar base stats.

Very true thanks that makes sense
No problem :)
It's similar to Murkrow and Misdreavus.
 - Both evolve with Dusk Stone
 - Both of their evos were introdued in Gen IV
 - They have nearly the same Pokedex numbers. I think. xD
So yeah. :3
Very true indigo just must be a coincidence
Murkrow and Misdreavus were also introduced in Gen2
No, they do this normally. Trevanant and Gourgeist just have the same connection as Murkrow and Misdreavus.
This is the same with Volbeat and Illumise in Gen 3 as well.
Misdreavus <3
