Gender-swap dawn piplup (platinum)?

Question

i was playing Pokemon platinum when dawn proceded to teach me how to catch Pokemon her piplup was a female all right and good but when we battled against team galactic grunts her piplup was male how that happened

Apparently,this has happened to a lot of people,including me.This here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/946308-pokemon-platinum-version/49144121 also says that.It must be a glitch or maybe it happened at random.

maybe gender ratio also apply each encounter like 12.5 chance its a female each time the player battles/sees her pokemon
