It's called VenuZard. It's for all formats. I just made this combo and I'm a beginner at competitve. I didn't put this on Rate My Team because it isn't necessarily a team. Enjoy.

VenuZard Combo

This is a cool combo for a sun team. The moves on Charizard vary depending on if you want to Mega Evolve Charizard or Venusaur. Remember to have a Rapid Spinner and maybe a Spinblocker on this team, because Stealth Rocks are Charizard's worst nightmare. Chandelure or Trevenant are awesome spinblockers for a sun team. Put an Air Balloon on your Chandelure in case of Excadrill. A good Rapid Spinner is the almighty Excadrill himself.

MEGA CHARIZARD SET
Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 SATK / 252 SPD / 4 HP
Timid/Modest Nature
- Air Slash
- Flamethrower
- SolarBeam
- Roost
Go crazy with this set, just kill every thing in sight. If you see a water type, or just want to go defensive, just switch into Venusaur and let him Sludge Bomb like crazy at the foe. Roost is for recovery, since Charizard doesn't have the best defenses.

REGULAR OLD CHARIZARD SET
Pokemon @ Leftovers/Heat Rock
Ability: Solar Power
EVs: 252 SATK / 252 SPD / 4 HP
Timid/Modest Nature
- Flamethrower
- Air Slash
- Roost
- Sunny Day/Solar Beam
This is for if you want to Mega Evolve Venusaur. Just one thing: ONLY use Solar Beam instead of Sunny Day if you have some other Pokemon to start sun on your team ( Such as Drought Ninetales)!! Anyway, this set is less powerful than Zard Y, but lets you use Mega Venusaur to let you go on the defensive side. It all depends on your team.

VENUSAUR SET:
Venusaur @ Black Sludge / Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll / Thick Fat
EVs: 252 DEF / 252 SDef / 4 HP
Bold/Calm Nature
- Sleep Powder
- Sludge Bomb/ Solar Beam
- Synthesis
- Growth
This is where bulk beats brawn. The EVs are for keeping Venusaur as bulky as humanely possible. Choose the Nature depending on what Pokemon are on your team (What their weaknesses are). The item depends if you are mega evolving or not. Black Sludge is cool because it's like Leftovers, but if some idiot Tricks or Switcheroo's you, they will suffer. Venusaur benefits from the sun big time. In the Sun, Venusaur is faster because of Chlorophyll ( if you're not mega Evolving) Synthesis heals him more, and Growth raises your attacking stats by 2 instead of 1. In case you thought we did, we don't really need EVs in Special Attack because of our good pal Growth. Choose Solar Beam over Sludge Bomb if you are Mega Evolving Venusaur, choose Sludge Bomb if MegaZard Y is your cup of tea. It's all up to you.

The combo you have given is very commonly used in doubles. This is because Mega Charizard and Chlorophyll Venusaur (ChloroSaur) complement each other perfectly; they cover each other well AND stay on the field together.

Note: ChloroSaurs run Giga Drain instead of Solar Beam anymore due to the weather nerf. Also, Sludge Bomb has become more staple that Growth as the coverage against the new Fairy type is appreciated.

As for the regular Charizard + Mega Venusaur, that combo won't work. This is because Charizard cannot really find a place for Sunny Day + Heat Rock in the higher tiers, nor does it have the nuclear power it's Mega does.
Mega Venusaur has only one thing benefitting from the sun, and that is Synthesis, unlike ChloroSaur which has Chlorophyll as well to abuse the sun. Also it's Fire weakness broadens in the sun.

However

It's not as common in singles now. Following are the reasons people have lessened the use (the cons of the combo):

  • The weather nerf: Gen VI onwards, weather only stays on field for 5 turns (8 turns in a Rock is held), which means that Venusaur's Chorophyll time on the field is more limited than in doubles

  • The loss of Mega Charizard would be big: As a matter of fact, nobody likes having one Pokemon control the whole game in their team, as if that MVP faints, then their game would go for a toss. In this case, the loss of Mega Charizard would mean that Venusaur has lost a lot of usefulness.

Hope I helped!
