What will happen if you use thief on Groudon/Kyogre?

Question

Will it steal the Red/Blue Orb and not Primal Evolve?
Or will Thief just fail?

Considering there similar to Mega Stones I would suspect that they cannot be stolen and thef will just do damage.

As Lupus said it will not revert to it's normal form. A better way to think of it is Giratina with it's griseous orb or arceus and it's plates. Here is a link to a question regarding griseous orb.
