Aggron or Metagross in Omega Ruby?

Which is best for the 5th Pokemon?btw I need a good 6th Pokemon

Good Question! Let`s take a good look at the stats and type advantages for both.

Metagross
Metagross

Pros and Cons:

  • Great Attack and Sp. Atk
  • Four Type Disadvantages
  • Wide move Coverage
  • Mega Evolution raises all stats except for HP
  • Easily Obtainable as of now in ORAS due to the Mystery Gift system

All around, metagross is a well-rounded Pokemon, but harder to get, compared to Aggron, due to it needing to be level 45 to evolve from Metang. However, Metagross serves better as a sweeper than a wall, since metagross has the power needed in Attack and doesn't have a massive defense stat.

Pros and Cons:

  • Strong Physical Attacker
  • Great Defense
  • Mega Evolving raises Defense stat, Attack stat, and Sp. Def
  • Has three 4x effective type disadvantages
  • Mega evolving reduces type disadvantages

Aggron is a great Physical Attacking tank, but it's three 4x effective type disadvantages and unavailability until late in the game makes it quite hard to use. It is easier to get to evolve into it's final evolved form than metagross, but the mega stone is required to make it work best, meaning if you want it to be effective, you need to sacrifice giving it a held item, other than it's mega stone.

Altogether, I find metagross the one I choose. In fact, I happen to use one in ORAS right now.

Oh and beat the pokemon leave twice for metagrossite!

Yeah, but as of now, you can use the Mystery gift system and get a shiny beldum that holds a metagrossite, so defeating the E4 again is only for profit...

I'll give a Pros and Cons for both and you can choose

Honestly neither one is "better" than the other. I will compare them and let you choose. (plus I'll add in movesets :D)

Metagross

It has better stats (600 to 530)
It has a better ability.
It has a better movepool.
It has better typing.
But all of that is before the mega...after the mega some things change
Aggron gains a better ability
Aggron gains better typing.

Here are my suggested movesets for both, before and after the mega.

Metagross @ Life Orb
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Agility
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Zen Headbutt

Metagross @ Metagrossite
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Zen Headbutt
- Bullet Punch

Aggron @ Aggronite
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Def / 240 SpD
Impish Nature
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Heavy Slam
- Earthquake

Aggron @ Chople Berry
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Autotomize
- Head Smash
- Aqua Tail
- Low Kick
