Why are alien Pokemon psychic types?

Question

With the notable eception of the cleffa line, most Pokemon with supposed or confirmed extraterrestial connections (Deoxys, Metagross, Beheeyem, Lunatone, Solrock, etc.) are psychic types. I was just wondering if this was coincidence or if there was any potential reasoning behind this.

Most aliens end up using sorts of inhumane energy(Ex:tractor beams) and you can't lift cows with a giant flashlight. So most likely because of there "odd energy." Also psychic Pokemon are commonly thought of as Pokemon with "odd energy." So I believed its no coincidence.
