What are those little charecterisitics?

Question

When I get a Pokemon and look at it's nature or something it says "Likes to thrash about" is that a hint at something IV wise or does that mean that thrash will be stronger or was GameFreak just like hehe your mudkip likes to thrash about?

The characteristics point to highest iv your Pokemon has. "Likes to thrash about" means this Pokemon's highest iv is in attack.
