Why was Pikachu's cry changed so it sounds like Pikachu in the anime?

Not that I'm complaining but why did they change its cry?

This is mainly due to the fact that Pikachu is the mascot of Pokemon. This is why in Pokemon Yellow you could not evolve it, in RSE and FRLF made the light ball, and finally why (besides Jigglypuff) was the first playable Pokemon on Super Smash Bros. ( Jigglypuff was just because it would be similar to kirby (not kidding))
