In the Abyssal Ruins (in Black & White) there are several plaques on the walls with funny writing. Is this a particular language, either modern or ancient? Or do the 'pictograms' mean something else?

It's Cuneiform, an ancient language used by the Sumerians of Mesopotamia (In simplest terms, modern-day Iraq) way back in the 30th century (3000) B.C.

Yeah, that's right
Is it possible to translate what all the messages mean? Is there a reference online anywhere?

This thread generalizes what the walls say.

I couldn't find any sites to directly translate this. Since it seems to represent an alphabet rather than phrases, it may be Phoenician or Egyptian hieroglyphics, rather than Cuneiform...

This is a good question, so I'll keep looking around.
