This is my lead for a VGC team.

Venusaur (M) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 SpA / 180 SpD / 76 Spe
Modest Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Sleep Powder
- Protect

Charizard-Mega-Y (M) @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Drought
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Heat Wave
- Solar Beam
- Air Slash
- Protect

Would be in any way a viable option to change the moveset to include fire / grass pledge, as that combo has recently grabbed my attention. If so, replace what? If not, why? This IS for VGC 15 if you didn't know.

Wrong section i think
I don't believe so. This is the right section.
Since its not a RMT then it is fine in this section
Seems viable, but this set as of now is the standard, and for good reason. Experimenting is up to you, though. Personally, I'd test out the Pledge combo a couple of times, but ultimately return to the standard. Also, Pledge teams are now gaining popularity, and are somewhat predictable. I say, if you were to get predicted, you might as well go for power.

Anyway, it is my duty to say the added effects of the Pledges is actually quite a good thing, and may actually help you win, or (sometimes) catch your opponent off guard. But veteran battlers know that Pledge teams are fairly common, and will try and prevent you from setting it up.

tl;dr : I am of literally no use to this question, and I only exist to add more confusion.
Yup, a good duo all right
Change Venusaur's Sp.Def EVs to  HP.

I believe it is amazing. Your Venusaur, has a unique and useful EV spread, and a great move set. Same with Charizard. But if you want that fire/grass pledge combo, I recommend dropping protect on both. Imo, protect is only to block a move, so it doesn't help unless you have an ability like speed boost. Remember, that is my opinion for the pledges, you can decide. Great duo overall.

You are OBVIOUSLY not a VGC player. Protect is mandatory on pretty much any pokemon thats not choiced. Its needed to keep momentum in a game.
Is it that obvious? Wow. I am bad at this.

If this is your set, then why not Solar Beam? Venusaur would like that, 120 BP, works in one turn due to drought.
According to me, this is what I would do:-
Venusaur @ Black Sludge
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 180 HP / 252 SpA / 76 Spe
Modest Nature
- Solar Beam (One turn, Strong STAB)
- Giga Drain (Keep for good healing + Black Sludge)
- Protect (To allow some extra Black Sludge Recovery )
- Sleep Powder (To annoy opponents)

Got rid of Sludge Bomb, Charizard can take out both types poison is super effective against (Grass and Fairy) ( resisting both and being Super effective on one).

Why did you answer a question asked in 2015, about VGC 15, now in 2021 when VGC 2021 is going on?
Ok my bad
