In Pokemon B/W why doesn't the season change with the actual season?

The season changes every month in B/W. Why don't the seasons change with the season in the real world?

It would take way too long

My theory: Think about it. Some Pokemon (iirc) can only be caught depending on season. And some items are only obtainable in Winter and Autumn. Waiting 3 whole months for that? Nobody would really enjoy that.
