PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

I don't mean events, I mean actual DLC that adds new content to the game. I'm asking this because I a lot of people are speculating that ORAS will have a Battle Frontier DLC. They're wrong, of course, because I think all focus has been out on the next games, but was there ever any grounds to their theories?

No Pokemon has DLC if you do not count events or secrets areas that come around from events.
So there's been no instance in the past to support the theory that someday there'll be DLC in Pokémon.

No. There has never been DLC for the mainstream Pokemon games. The closest was the events in diamond and pearl. Then again that kinda was dlc because it unlocked different areas. But actual dlc like what you mean has never been released, and I don't know when or if it will happen.

Hope I helped :)

I don’t know which events you are referencing in DPPt but the content was already coded into the game, so it wasn’t really a DLC.

Not Yet.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are getting DLC in 2020. It is called the Expansion Pass.

  • The Isle of Armor will be released on June 17th, 2020.

  • The Crown Tundra will be released in fall 2020.

Just to make clear, the nearest thing Pokemon has had to a DLC has been Pokémon Dream Radar. There have been no actual DLCs before).
