I'm debating whether to get power belt or power band. Power belt increases his already high defense stat but I also don't want to get 2 shotted with a special attack which is why I'm also considering power band

Use power weight. It helps with both kinds of attacks. Although what you'd do after maxing HP, I don't know.
Forretress's Special Defense is so low that I can't think of any realistic situation where it won't be 2HKO, even with Max Special Defense. By sacrificing Defense for Special defense it just seems to me like you're wasting 254 EVs.
fire punch 2x att would KO this pokemon though, any stats even. its 4x weak to fire. 4x fire punch (2x) already auto KO

try something different, its very hard to work around a Pokemon if it wont work, often youll need to make other Pokemon make it work like setting up, smeargle, with shuckle... alakazam trick room, sounds off but it works :D

Usuage - deterring opponent with switch outs and small dmg,
Strengths - setting up, being a pain
Weaknesses - Its weak to fire by four x -- 4x--

Forretress is about setting up, so using it as a first Pokemon is necessary unless setting up like with trick room

First and foremost, Forretress's job is to use Rapid Spin and keep entry hazards off your side of the field. The choice of entry hazard is team-dependent; if another Pokemon has Stealth Rock, you should run Spikes and set up dual entry hazards. Volt Switch turns Forretress into a defensive pivot by retaining momentum against switch-ins. The choice between Gyro Ball and Toxic is preference; Gyro Ball lets Forretress take on fast Pokemon such as Mega Aerodactyl, Mienshao, Alakazam, Crobat, and Whimsicott, while Toxic cripples most of Forretress's common switch-ins, including Swampert and Vaporeon.

perhaps a forretress like this would be more beneficial, and try using other Pokemon to switch it out hence volt switch. if facing charizard Y mega you know full fact foretress gonna be DEAD with 4x, forget fainted LOL

Try to avoid using Forretress as a lead. Instead, use it to take hits from a variety of strong physical attackers such as Choice Scarf Mienshao. As a defensive pivot, it benefits from Wish support to help utilize its "sponge and switch" tactics. Once you've done your job with Forretress, it is okay to use it as death fodder. Forretress does not work with every team; a defensive pivot with spinning capabilities is not particularly useful on hyper offense. Normally, you'll want to run Forretress on balanced teams that can provide a synergistic relationship between spinning and Wish support. This set's Toxic allows you to apply pressure to Rhyperior, Donphan, and Swampert. Essentially, Forretress applies Toxic pressure on almost any Pokemon that chooses to switch in expecting entry hazards. Most notably, Baton Pass Vaporeon and Swampert hate being Toxic poisoned.

this explanation was a general answer in hopes to swade your thoughts, if not direct answer it actually is, its encouraging a few little tweets with your Pokemons design, but ultimately its how you use it and upon what teams used with. Goodluck anyways
