Mudsdale @ Assault Vest
Ability: Stamina
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Low Sweep
- Heavy Slam
- Payback / Counter

This set allows Mudsdale to survive many hits before he can Attack. Assault Vest with Careful nature and Max Hp allows it to survive Special hits, while Max Hp, Impish nature, and Mudsdale's high Defence allows it to survive Physical hits. Stamina is really a great ability to have, scaring away Physical Attackers. Earthquake for a reliable STAB. Heavy Slam deals with Ice and Fairy types, also taking advantage of Mudsdale's ridiculous weight. Low Sweep lowers speed, dealing with some speed boosters and faster attackers. Payback and Counter takes advantage of Mudsdale's Low speed.

low sweep plus payback/ counter is not good if fighting a slightly faster pokemon that it
Counter has negative priority
low sweep cannot make fast ghost types slower, therefore payback is a good choice to counter them since mudsdale is really slow

Mudsdale @ Leftovers
Ability: Stamina
EVs: 196 HP / 60 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Payback
- Toxic
- Rock Slide

Wall
Stamina to boost the defense, leftovers to help heal hp over turns as the Pokemon becomes more durable.
Earthquake for STAB and power, Payback because of Mudsdale being slow (high IV's in speed aren't needed) as well as coverage, Rock Slide for coverage, Toxic to hinder special attackers whilst wearing them down helping to wall. Just an alternative way you can use this (in my opinion) awesome Pokemon.

Close Combat targets Guzzlord and can be used on Bronzong if you don't know what ability it has. Lash Out provides coverage against Pokemon like Decidueye, Celebi, and Dhelmise.

Mudsdale @ Leftovers
Ability: Stamina
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Iron Defense
- Toxic
- Facade
- Rock Slide/Iron Head

Iron Defense to boost weaker stat (with this EV is weaker), Facade if you have burn or Toxic, Rock Slide and Iron Head for flinch.

by
Facade isn't powered up when your opponent is statused. Iron defense is not a good move and you aren't using body press to at least justify using it. You don't even have stab?

Gen 9 NU Specially Defensive

Mudsdale @ Leftovers
Ability: Stamina
Tera Type: Dragon / Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Heavy Slam
- Roar

Specially Defensive Mudsdale has been getting usage to tank special hits and be able to phaze out Special setup sweepers such as Delphox and Calm Mind/Nasty Galarian Slowbro. Specially Defensive Mudsdale can also deal with Pokemon it otherwise wouldn't want to deal with such as Chandelure. Tera also helps Mudsdale deal with matchups that would struggle with. Mudsdale has Stamina to boost its Defense stat, so Mudsdale can afford to be a Specially Defensive wall if your team needs it.

Stealth Rock lets Mudsdale setup a hazard that chips opposing Pokemon switching in, which can limit the times certain Pokemon can switch in to one of your teammates' attacks. Earthquake is used for the STAB move, being able to deal decent chip damage and threaten Pokemon such as Chandelure, Registeel, Copperajah, Galarian Slowbro, and Dragalge. Heavy Slam is mainly used to let Mudsdale threaten a 2HKO against Sylveon and Florges. Roar lets Mudsdale force opposing Pokemon off of the battlefield, which is useful to get rid of setup sweepers trying to use Mudsdale as setup fodder. Leftovers is used to give Mudsdale a little HP recovery each turn. Tera Dragon allows Mudsdale resist Grass, Water, and Fire moves, which allows Mudsdale to flip the matchups against Sun teams and Inteleon. Tera Dragon also makes the Chandelure matchup a lot easier. Tera Steel can be an option to have a nice defensive typing that lets Mudsdale have an immunity to Toxic.
