Is Chikorita based off of a pear?

Once, I was watching a YouTube video and the YouTuber (I think it was TruGreen7) said that Chikorita may have been based off of a pear. At first, I didn't believe it but then looking at the Gen 2 sprite, it looks like a sentient pear! Maybe I got this in my head, but I want to know if Chikorita is based off of a pear.

Chikorita has similarities to sauropods. Its shape and appearance also alludes to that of a pear, or a Belgian endive, a type of chicory.
