Lanturn or Ampharos? (Gold)?

Gold VC is so convenient <3 Anyways, I need help choosing between Ampharos or Lanturn, and some changes to my team. (Can't trade since none of my friends play Pokemon VC)
Here's my team so far:

-Flaffy (Electric)
-Gloom (I really want Blossom) (Grass-Poison)
-Fearow (Normal-Flying)
-Quilava(Fire)

I think Ampharos is better because its special attack is higher. It can also learn both fire punch and thunderpunch.

Use Ampharos. It has higher special attack and can learn both thunderpunch and fire punch before Whitney.
