Sobble appears to be based on the veiled chameleon due to its color scheme being similar to that of the males. The way this species collects water droplets from its casque (the helmet-like protrusion on top of its head) into its mouth could resemble tears which could explain the tear-like patches on Sobble's face, its actual tears when crying, and its Water typing. Its typing, in addition to the crest on its head, are features that can also be more loosely related to basilisk lizards.

According to this Bulbapedia page, Sobble seems to be based on a chameleon, which seems likely. We'll probably find out about anything else it's based off of once we have more information.
