Rhydon or nidoking? Which one's better?

I want a ground type for my Pokemon yellow team but I can't decide between Rhydon or Nidoking. Which one is better?

Nidoking is definitely better than Rhydon. You can catch and evolve Nidoking significantly earlier, and Nidoking has higher speed and special.
