PokéBase - Pokémon Q&A

I tried searching it but but it says Kanto. Alola sounds like a reasonable answer, because before Grookey (the first of Galar), is Melmetal, and before that is Meltan. But before the release of Sword and Shield, Meltan didn't have any sprites. So what region is Meltan really in?

Meltan was introduced in Pokemon GO. In terms of main series games, it is currently obtainable in LGP/E and Sword and Shield.

i thought it was introduced in let's go
It was introduced in GO, which is the only place you can evolve it into Melmetal. It is transferable to Let's Go games and SwSh.

Meltan and Melmetal and to an extent all of the USUM new pokémon are in a gen 7.5 purgatory. Melmetal could be an alolan Pokemon and by the average fan is but it could be a galar Pokemon. It could also be a LPGE Pokemon but I don't want to repeat what Giga~Blade X already stated. Even if your point of it's before Grookey, look at Victini. If you count POGO as its own game/region or whatever you wanna call it than it's probably the POGO games or Earth(?)

TL;DR
Gen 7
Region:
Alola, Kanto, or Earth
