I think Tyranitar is inspired by Krystalak and SpaceGodzilla

Generation I

  • Nidoking, Nidoqueen, and Rhydon all strongly resemble Baragon.
  • Aerodactyl is a pterosaur-like creature that is similar to Rodan.
  • Butterfree and Venomoth set a precedent for butterfly and moth-like Pokémon to have psychic abilities and powder attacks with debilitating status effects, recalling Mothra. Additionally, Butterfree's first stage, Caterpie, bears a very strong resemblance to Mothra's larva form. Butterfree's Gigantamax form also strongly resembles Mothra.
  • Like King Caesar, Arcanine is based on the shisa.
  • Grimer and Muk are sludge-like creatures resembling Hedorah.

Generation II

  • Feraligatr and the powerful Tyranitar resemble Godzilla. Also, Tyranitar's Japanese name is Bangiras (バンギラス Bangirasu), similar to Anguirus' Japanese name Angirasu (アンギラス). Additionally, Tyranitar's first stage, Larvitar (ヨーギラス Yogirasu) is clearly based off of Baby Godzilla.

Generation III

  • The Steel/Rock-type Aggron may be based on Pulgasari, a monster that eats iron in Korean legend.

Generation IV

  • The Pokémon Yanmega is a dragonfly that evolves from Yanma by learning Ancient Power and is directly based off the Meganeura species of ancient dragonflies, just like Megaguirus and the Meganula.

Generation V

  • The Pokémon Hydreigon is similar to King Ghidorah in appearance, as they are both winged, flying three-headed dragons with no real "arms." However, Hydreigon has been confirmed in a Nintendo Dream interview with Ken Sugimori, head Pokémon designer, to be based off Yamata no Orochi instead of King Ghidorah. The explanation given was that Hydreigon has 3 heads instead of 8 because 3 heads was simpler than 8 heads.

Generation VI

  • Tyranitar gained a mega evolution in this Generation, and rather fittingly resembles Super Godzilla or SpaceGodzilla (who was inspired by Super Godzilla anyways), complete with an exaggerated version of Super Godzilla's 'crown' and large dorsal fins erupting out of its back.

Generation VII

  • In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Lunala utilizes one of Mothra's chirps, and Solgaleo uses a short Baragon roar.

Generation VIII and Gigantamax

  • The Gigantamax Pokémon who show the most kaiju influence, in particular, are Gigantamax Charizard, heavily resembling Burning Godzilla from Godzilla vs Destoroyah with its chest and head flames.
  • Gigantamax Butterfree once again showing some Mothra influence with its giant wings and G-Max befuddle attack being somewhat similar to the sparkles Mothra creates.
  • Gigantamax Dreadnaw and Gigantamax Garbodor do slightly resemble Gamera and Hedorah, respectively, but these resemblances are more likely due to being based on similar concepts.
  • Lastly, while Duraludon’s gigantamax form resembles giant buildings more than anything else, its base design and rivalry with Tyranitar were likely inspired by Mechagodzilla.

Ultraman and Urshifu connection

While technically not a kaiju it is also possible that Urshifu’s gigantamax forms were partially inspired by the Tokusatsu hero Ultraman. More specifically Urshifu Single Strike Style may be based on Ultraman Zero Strong Corona and Urshifu Rapid Strike Style may be based on Ultraman Zero Luna-Miracle.

Some other references

  • One piece of concept art for Capsule Monsters, which evolved into Pokémon Red and Green, shows a fire-breathing reptile named Godzillante, combining Godzilla and Biollante's names, and an ape named Gorillaimo.1 These are a clear reference to Godzilla and King Kong. However, these creatures were only sample characters and not actual Pokémon.
  • Volcarona is perhaps the most obvious of these, being seemingly directly inspired by Mothra, among other various influences.
  • It has also been speculated that Bisharp, the Sword Blade Pokémon, was inspired by mecha hero Jet Jaguar from Godzilla vs Megalon as well as Kaijin, which is a term used for the strange and mysterious humanoid villains found in some kaiju movies.
  • While I briefly mentioned the sixth generation games when discussing Mega Tyranitar’s design, the anime still continued to use various Kaiju roars for legendary Pokémon, such as Yveltal having Megaguirus’s roar in Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction, and Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre having Godzilla’s roar combined with Mothra and King Ghidorah’s roars, respectively, in Mega Evolution Special III.
  • The third legendary of this seventh generation trio, known as Necrozma, may have had its lore influenced by Ultraman Zero. Both are cosmic beings who have attempted to steal powerful sources of energy. Necrozma’s true form in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon is even called Ultra Necrozma and is a being of pure light, similar to how Ultras are known as giants of light.

These are all the ones I could find. Hope this helps!

in gen 4, the creation trio have a similar roar to the some of the kaiju
in gen 5, you forgot one of the most obvious one, volcarona from the mothra, and bisharp from the jet jaguar or may also from kaijin and the legendary have roars from the kaiju and its not from the source, but haxorus is from destoroyah
yveltal, the primals has the kaiju roar in the movie
ultra necrozma lore to be inspired from ultraman zero
the gigantamax urshifu could be from ultraman R/B, and specific for single strike, could be from ultraman belial and other dark ultraman
for the details is from the source, but like i said, if you dont want to add it, its okay, thanks
I added those, but I can't find for the Creation Trio in that source. For G-Max Urshifu, I have already added it :P
