Can you *steal* Pokémon in Crystal?

Question

Yeah, I know this sounds stupid. But I saw a video by SmallAnt where he told you in Crystal if you press Up + Down at the end of a battle, it will take the opponents Pokémon, and discard your own. I wouldn’t believe this if he hadn’t answered seriously, and I didn’t see like 5 more videos similar to his. So, can you actually do this? And if you can’t, you can officially call me an idiot.

It's completely impossible. You can steal Pokemon with the use of cheats, GameShark, Action Replay, etc., but not through any legitimate means. SmallAnt is a pretty good liar (source: I watch him too lol) so it's almost certain he was just joking.
