Sigilyph has always appeared to me as a weird shape. With plenty of spikes and weird appendages.

Today, while playing Super Smash Bros Ultimate, I noticed that the logo for the Dragon Quest series looked practically identical to Sigilyph.

So what exactly is this creature?

Sigilyph appears to have been inspired by the Nazca Lines, specifically the avian figures, and kachina dolls. Like Sigilyph, the Nazca Lines are found in a desert. It also resembles a wind chime.

It's kind of a combination of Nazca Lines and kachina dolls. Looking at Nazca lines on Wikipedia, you can see the similarities between Sigilyph and, for example, the condor. However, Bulbapedia fails to mention that Sigilyph bears a very heavy resemblance to the hummingbird, its body shape matching it nearly identically.

Thanks, looking at this and reading about the Nazca lines makes Sigilyph seem really interesting and mysterious.
