I want to get into competitive, and I want to do Ubers, so what are some team roles I need to fill?

If you're referring to gen eight ubers, then for a newer player, you are gonna want Yveltal, Eternatus and Necrozma on your team. Yveltal deals with Calyrex and is a great pokemon in general, Eternatus can serve as a knock off absorber and deals with Kyogre. Necrozma is the obligatory steel type that can also counter Xerneas. It may seem stale but just about every uber team has these three mons unless the player really knows what they're doing. From there, the other three would just depend on what type of team you want

These two questions should give you a good idea of the roles on a Pokémon team. I don't think there's a need to ask specifically for Ubers, as the roles are the same in all "normal" formats.
Flagging for staff's attention.

Also for future reference, singles and doubles Ubers are VASTLY different, so different that the Ubers room on Showdown! doesn't even allow discussion for Doubles Ubers.
A question which was a bit similar to this was asked a while back https://pokemondb.net/pokebase/404436/
In my opinion, this is fine because building roles might differ from tier to tier, especially in Doubles. There is no such thing as a "normal" format too.
I was worried about being petty and using the most usef Pokémon but...
@Carnelian By "normal" formats I meant formats from LC to AG, as the other formats might have different roles for their specific format. I've never played one so I'm not sure.
The thread you linked to asks for the metagame and not the roles on a team, which would differ in each tier as expected.

@OP Are you asking for the most viable pokémon / current metagame in Ubers or the roles on a pokémon team? Both questions differ widely.
LC to AG is a wide berth and includes OMs and UMs. If you mean the "regular" formats, it's LC to Ubers.
Metagame includes team roles. You can not define a metagame without listing out the necessary roles which a team would usually need. Asking for team roles for a team is not vague and is answerable, and would of course differ for different metagames.
So you mean certain team roles are completely unviable in certain formats even in the "normal" formats, and Ubers has its own sets of "viable team roles"?
When you're mentioning LC to AG you're including OMs. OMs include 2v2 and other metagames which do not adhere to the roles common in singles. So yes, some roles would be completely unviable in certain formats.
Asking a different question for Ubers is not breaking any rule in any way. While some roles may overlap, of course, it's a metagame on its own and would have some peculiarities.
Gotcha, and my bad for including AG in those "normal" formats. I meant to say LC to Ubers.
Both but mostly the most viable Pokémon

Here is a link to the VR and a list of analyses.

  1. Role #1

A check to calyrex shadow. Calyrex shadow is massive threat in ubers, and not including proper checks for it is a recipe for disaster.

Here is a list of viable Calyrex Shadow checks:

a. Yveltal: Yveltal resist ghost and 0hko back with dark type stab. Its access to reliable recovery let's it check calyrex shadow over the course of a game. It is the best check and I would reccomend it for most teams.

b. Bulky Dark types: Bulky dark types like Tyranitar can wall calyrex shadow. These are hit hard by pollen puff, however. Offensive dark types such as Weavile and Urshifu-S are soft checks that can give some security vs Caly on offensive teams.

c. Priority: Shadow Sneak from Marshadow and Giratina can 0hko Caly. These cannot switch in, they can only reverse kill.

You can read more about Caly by reading its analysis on smogdex.

  1. Role #2
A stealth rocker. You want a stealth rocker on most teams, and while it is not mandatory, it is highly recommended on most structures.

There a number of other roles that while not completely mandatory , but generally very useful to have:
1. Hazard Removal: This includes Defog, Rapid Spin and Magic Bounce.
2. Cleric( i.e a way to cure status) : Due to the prevalence of status in ubers you are reccomended to run Aromatherapy on Heal Bell on most teams.
3. A good defensive core: You want a set of defensive Pokemon that can check the tier's top threats reasonably well. To start off, I'd reccomend covering the all the mons from S to B- rank on the VR. This can be skipped if you are running a hyper offense team. On those teams, you still need soft checks to top threats such as Caly-S.

The question asks for both Singles and Doubles. Would you be able to add an explanation for Doubles, too, in the answer?
Who would you recommend as a stealth rocker?
Necrozma Dusk Mane is the most common stealth rocker. You can also use Groudon, Landorus-Therian or even Ferrothorn.
I don't play doubles ubers, so I can't tell you about that. You're better off asking in the doubles chatroom on pokemon showdown. Sorry!
Thanks!
