I know double edge is more popular but recoil is kinda bad but body slam has a good para chance.

Genuinely facade is pretty nice cuz with clefki you can thunder wave yourself and then actually have a good speed for trick room. 140 damage, 87.5% accurate with full para chance, definitely a nice switch over from 100% accurate but self damaging double edge which is the meta rn.
Is this for Champions OU or one of the other formats?

Alright, your title says Double-Edge or Take Down for Mega Feraligatr, but then you mention Body Slam, so I guess I’ll cover all three.

Starting off with Double-Edge or Take Down, I would personally go with Double-Edge for a few reasons:

  • More damage. Double-Edge does 120 base power, while Take Down does 90.
  • Better accuracy. Take Down is just too unreliable with its 85 accuracy, while Double-Edge has a nice 100.

The only bad thing about Double-Edge is that Mega Feraligatr loses 1/3 of its health from recoil, compared to Take Down’s 1/4. But overall, that’s not a big enough difference to matter.

So the final question is: is Double-Edge better than Body Slam? I would actually go with Body Slam on this one, because like you said, the recoil is definitely not favorable. However, I would argue that you could run a wallbreaker Feraligatr with Double-Edge, but Feraligatr just doesn’t have the speed to match certain opponents like Mega Garchomp or Mega Dragonite.

With Body Slam, you could run a physical tank set, which would be much better suited for Mega Feraligatr. Also paralyze chance is just nice.
