Meta Battle Subway PokeBase - Pokemon Q&A

What is a good moveset for Gliscor? (page 2)

6 votes

Mine has the ability Hyper Cutter. It knows:

Earthquake: No need to say anything.

Stone Edge: High power, good chance for critical hit, used to deal with Ice types. Also deals with Flying types.

Roost: Heals Gliscor.

Ice Fang: Decent power, decent accuracy, chance to freeze or cause flinching, type coverage. Deals with Dragon, Flying, Ground, and Grass types.

I can't believe no one answered this
I found a strategy while fighting someone on Pokemon Showdown
Try this (Works best with double toxic spikes on)

Gen V

Gliscor (M/F) @ Toxic Orb

Trait: Poison Heal

EVs: 252 Attk / 4 SpDef / 252 Spd

Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAttk)

  • Earthquake - STAB
  • Ice Fang - Gets rid of those flying types and the levitators
  • Protect - See Below
  • Substitute - See Below

To use this, first get a burn, poison or badly poison on the target. Then comes the ultimate stalling since you outspeed most Pokemon in OU (non-scarfed). Use Protect, and Toxic Orb turns on. Use Substitute, then the substitute presumably dies. Afterwards. use protect again. Keep repeating and bring chips/popcorn while watching your opponent die.
IF your Substitute doesn't get destroyed, or if you have no Burn or Poison or Badly Poison on your target, this is when E-quake and I-Fang come in. Use E-quake after a sub that's not yet destroyed. Use Ice Fang instead of E-Quake when it's obvious (Like fighting a Flying type, or something else). If you have no Burn/Poison/Badly Poison, keep stalling either till Substitute doesn't get destroyed and you can use E-Quake/I-Fang OR until your opponent runs out of PP or switches out. If your opponent misses on your Sub, you can also attack.

I hope you realize that besides your sweeper EVs and no Toxic, this is literally the only set Gliscor runs in OU.

mine also has hypper cutter :P
moves include

                          :Night slash
                          :earth quake

however you can include fire fang and sunny day (or) ice fang and cross poison (or)
dig hunderd percent safe move cause it wont affect moves like magnitude and esrth quake
because of the fact that glisgor is a flying type. moves like sword dance and rock polish would also be helpfull.

so help yourselves

Trait: Poison Heal
Item: Toxic Orb
EVs: 252 HP/252Def/4Atk
Nature: Impish (+Def, -SAtk)
-Earthquake/Stone Edge
-Knock off/Toxic

Basically, on the first turn I would use protect so the toxic orb will poison Gliscor. Then I would use Substitute. Since Substitute looses 1/4 of your HP and Poison Heal heals 1/8 of your HP you'll regain you're starting health back if you use protect after substitute.
Earthquake/Stone Edge is your choice if you want STAB of want to hit flying types.
Toxic is to help stall and knock off is to hit flying types if you chose earthquake.

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 248 HP / 188 Def / 72 Spe
Impish Nature
- Protect/taunt
- Toxic
- Roost /taunt
- Knock Off

how too use
im not extremely good at explaining this kind of stuff but to keep it straight forward this set uses the old toxic => protect => healing move combo adding in some great natural healing everyturn thanks too poison heal and the very anoying knock off wich I wouldnt honestly replace by anything especialy not earthquake since this set dosent use sword dance and even then you have other Pokemon who can do better usage of earthquake you could replace protect or even roost with taunt but I will cover that a bit later
extra anoying set great to stall and wall anything with phisical damage even the hard hitting Pokemon of the ou tier
this set is a good match-up against the like of tyrannitar wich once you knock off his choice scarf even a jolly nature tyrannitar gets outspeeded and is ready to be stalled . same goes for mega lopunny who dosent really carry anything to hit gliscor especialy hard because of his typing .
mega charizard - x could get a surprisingly hard time going trought this gliscor and breloom is pretty much checked by it unless he as jolly to outspeed it but quite honestly most people go adamant breloom and heavily relly on mach punch for the priority . if altaria - mega is going phisical damage he wont be able to get trought gliscor and garchomp cant really take much of a bite out of gliscor hp every turn . conkeldurr probably can still hurt this gliscor a good bit I would presume because of how hard he can hit but I didnt get to use this set against conkeldurr yet so I cant say for sure . those are just a few of the high phisical damage sweeper of this meta who can get seriously stalled by gliscor if you play it right

second option
as I said earlyer you can replace protect or roost by taunt if you wish but this changes everything since now you are gonna turn this gliscor into a wallbreaker / stallbreaker and a different set of ev can get more usefull there probably going something like this
EVs: 244 HP / 192 SpD / 72 Spe
Careful Nature
some people seem to be liking this build but honestly I didnt try it much and from what I got results where only half decent since alot of the staller / waller in ou can get pass the little 257 spdef of gliscor and with the fairy types using magic guard and magic bounce your better just taking away knock off and putting in earthquake even tho you wont hurt them much anyway especialy with toxic becoming useless against them

taking roost off and adding taunt instead while keeping the first set wasnt half bad from what I experienced since predicting a switch in from a sweeper trying to get a free set up of swords dance or dragon dance would allow me to taunt them making them unable to set up for a few turns leaving me on the other hand , able to safely enough toxic them and kock off theyre items before they could do much damage however on the long term gliscor longetivity gets pretty lowered and comes down to basicly being able to take down 1 Pokemon and afflicting toxic or knocking off the item of another Pokemon before falling this however played a nice roll in some of my matches and was far from useless if predicted well and kept for the later game

gliscor definetly as its place in the ou tier being a pretty strong phisical stall / wall despite being seriously endangered when facing a special type attacker or a weavile / kyurem black . starmie is also a really bad match up for him and his usefullness kinda fall sort if you end up facing a steel type like mega-metagross and mega scizzor to name only those 2 . if you are looking for a tought phisical stall gliscor is definetly worth looking at in my opinion and can be pretty usefull if used properly

I like a powerful sweep set! That can stay on field for a while! Very easy for beginners, and can be a excellent sweeper for experienced players!

Held Item: Toxic Orb, Ability: Poison Heal

EVs: 40HP / 248 Atk / 220 Spe

Moves: Fling (to make your acrobatics x2 and poison your opponent in the process)
Protect (For reneging when poisoned and inflicting poison damage to the opponent)
Acrobatics: (Does x2 when fling used and stab)
Swords Dance (For a bit more power)

Wow. I can't believe nobody has thought of this yet! This Gliscor can wreck anything really.
Gliscor with Toxic Orb | EV Distribution| 252 Speed, 128 Sp. Def, 128 Hp
Poison Heal, Jolly
Hone Claws
Iron Tail/Sand Tomb/Fire Fang/Thunder Fang
Rock Slide/Sand Tomb/Earthquake
Hone Claws increases accuracy. Use it as many times as safe. Then wreck the team with Guillotine. If an opponent with Sturdy enters play, use one of the other offensive moves, as Gliscor will also have a greatly boosted attack stat. The biggest issue I found was Skarmory. So I suggest either having Fire or Thunder Fang in the case of Skarmory, as it may have Sturdy. Sand Tomb will take out the strongest of physical tank stallers, as the majority of them are weak to ground type moves/residual damage. Earthquake works better normally though. I suggest having either Rock Slide, Iron Tail, or Fire Fang to deal with Ice type Pokémon. Now go mess some Pokemon up with this breeding free set.
