What would happen in this scenario?

There is a pokemon with lightning rod in the back of the party while the pokemon that gets hit by an electric move is in battle. What happens? Does the pokemon battling get hit with the attack since the pokemon with lightning rod isn't in battle or the opposite?

The battling Pokemon will get hit. Lightningrod only works when the Pokemon is out on the field.
