If a user asks a question that breaks the rules, and they're new, should I answer it?

You know, so that they know what they did wrong. Sorry, this may have been asked and answered before.

Don't answer it.
There is no point in doing so - a senior user will hide the question if it breaks the rules. There isn't any harm in doing so - but doing it is pointless. Leave a comment if the question breaks the rules.
