Do flags vanish over time?

So the last week I saw a post that had 1 flag. I couldn't see any way it broke rules, so I thought it was just a person who didn't like the asker, didn't understand flags or was just trolling. Later, the flag was gone. Do flags vanish?

No, they don't - flags will stay there forever. However, editors and mods can manually erase flags on a post if it doesn't break any rules, so that's most likely what happened. The only other possibility is that the person who flagged it removed their flag.
