It has come to my attention that, through the years, the community for the Pokémon franchise has expanded in directions that go far beyond the game itself.
We now have the luxury of living in the digital era, where sharing, interacting, discussing and passing down our interpretations, thoughts and feelings to the next person has become a well expected fact, if not to say routine.
One of the branches the Pokémon community has ventured into are the infamous Nuzlocke Challenges.
I don't think I need to explain to you guys what Nuzlockes are, but what I want to discuss is how we, as a family/community, and PM, for what regards the flow of visits the site gets and the phantomatic income he would receive from it, could benefit from having our own dedicated section on this site.
I'm halfway through my 22nd year of life. That's not to say I'm old, or that I'm a nostalgic Genwunner, but frankly I can't seem (or rather, don't care about it and don't have the time) to get into all that mumbo jumbo of EVs and IVs, specific Egg breeding with super-powerful natures, special training with different punching bags and the need of an all around perfect team.
I care mostly for the adventure.
I care mostly for that feeling of accomplishment and the drive to see what's hiding in the next patch of grass I used to have as a child and that I sometimes still get with the new releases.
(That is, until the competitive Meta mentality kicks in and I have to have all the right Pokémon with the right nature and the right ability before I even reach the 1st gym.
You know,
First world problems.)
But going back to the point, that feeling of adventure is what I, as certainly other thousands if not millions of people, see and receive from the Nuzlocke stories I had the chance to read on the web.
The point is that most of the stories, if not all of them, are on sites that have nothing to do with Pokémon.
They are just sites where people have to deposit their adventures, in the hope that maybe someone on that site would be interested in them as he or she was, *because there's literally no other option. (Namely: Deviantart, personal blogs and the Nuzlocke site itself which, at this point, is just a general comic site)
And this is why I bring forward this idea, to add a label Nuzlocke under the Community button, for we have all the informations a fan would want, but none of the heart the community needs.
I'd like to say we would be pioneers, as no other specific Pokémon site has done this as of yet, not even Smogon, but maybe that term is a bit to strong for something so trivial.
But still, we could become THE go to site in the Pokémon specter.
I, for instance, am mid way through my Nuzlocke comic.
But I would so much rather post it here and discuss it with the friends I have on this site than to post it on DeviantArt and hope for feedback.
And with this I close my question.
Note that there likely won't be a best answer chosen for this, but if things go they way they should, and I damn well hope so* we should get a few opinions below, and if your contribution is well appreciated, the community will give you far more points than I can dish out with a best answer.
So, what do you guys think?
• Should we add a Nuzlocke window?
• Do you think it would benefit the site and/or the community?
• Are you interested in such a chance, or do you think it's just a waste of time?
Let me know!
