No, hear me out. So a select group of people become 'Gym Leaders' and experts in a specific type. And the aim is to beat all of them on Showdown! to collect the (for instance) sumwun badge or the Fizz badge. And when you have all of these badges you get a bonus amount of (say 500) points. Format will be OU. However if you become a leader you need to post your type on your wall.

I think we can reconsider this if the showdown server gets more active. At the moment I don't think there's enough players for a league like this.
Nobody wants it enough for it to happen.
I thought Showdown! didn't belong to us.
No it doesn't but what we could do is just unofficially promote some users, then it's not like Showdown needs editing - all you need to do is arrange a time and battle. We could put another user in charge of handing out points (sumwun or Fizz for instance)
Okay. (filler)

I'll answered based on the general consensus via the given feedback as well as my own.

There are not enough people that would actually want this to happen in order for it to work. The Showdown lobby has only recently seen consistent activity and that's starting to go down again. There are not enough people that care to make it work as well as we want it.

As I said before, its more hassle than it's worth. It's more effort and more time spent than any actual enjoyment you could probably get out of it.

We've tried actual DB leagues in the past and they don't last very long due to the userbase getting bored of them quite quickly, and as a result they've become defunct. And this is when we had more competitive battlers on the site compared to casual users.

Even if we were to just manually keep track of points, it just feels like a big waste of time when only a few people would ever actually use the system. If you want to prove yourself as a battler here, then we have scheduled tournaments, or you could just challenge people. Many of us would say yes.

Bring this up again when the userbase grows more, then we'll reconsider.

Oh ok. Because nobody EVER wants to do an OU battle. Like, EVER!
Then go to Showdown or ask ahead of time on our walls.

By the fact that you're saying literally no one wants to play is probably an indication that the idea isn't great rn.
