Links are cool. Once or twice a decade, one of them shows up and saves Hyrule from the evil wizards.

It's a way to get the correct, "canonical" link for a question. Sometimes links can contain a bunch of extra parameters at the end (after a ? symbol) so that removes them. Maybe it's easier to right click + copy the link from there instead of the URL bar. Also on questions with multiple pages of answers, like the moveset questions, it gives you a link back to the first page.
