Also, I've noticed that closed questions get hidden eventually. Does this just happen when some mod decides to do it, or do closed questions get automatically hidden when they're old?

There's no specific timeframe, it's just whenever auth decides it's been closed for long enough and they manually hide it. I don't think they adhere to a specific amount of time, though.

The reason we close posts before hiding them is so the asker has time to respond and other people can see what happened to the post before it disappears. Usually we give two days but it can be shorter or longer depending on the circumstances.

Otherwise I'm not sure what you mean by "How long does it take for a post to get old?" Old relative to what?

Hellfire Taco is my favourite old relative
I think OP is asking about when it's acceptable to necropost
Where’d you get that from Terlor? Jw cuz I don’t see it /gen
To answer that, it’s always acceptable to necropost as long as it adds something useful to the conversation.
Like isn’t there a time where it just kinda becomes a “retired” question? The only example I can really think of is when you have to have 200 points to answer it without it being approved.
Not really, we have been actively fighting against the idea that you shouldn't answer old questions. That points req exists because old questions often have good answers already and new users often post random irrelevant stuff on them.
it mentions old posts here:

are they just saying "old" referring to an older posts, or are they referring to an actual thing that happens?
Yes that actually happens. The cutoff is something like two weeks old, but that is completely arbitrary and not something anybody makes a big deal about.
