I think it would be a good idea. We removed giving points for up - voting for the same reason, if you ask a question that doesn't get down voted, that's a free 4 points. And users who want quick points can do that, and since we have a point limit for voting, anyone who can ask 20 questions that don't get down-voted, can vote on things.

Which is a bit scary, if you ask me. Just a thought.

i like that idea but i wouldnt like to loose some of the points i already have if it does happen
Yes, by doing this, it won't allow users to have any method of gaining points by themselves; it will solely depend on other users.
True Sam, new users will have a much harder time getting enough points to do anything on the site.
Alot of users will drop but it is worth it. SF if you do the math you will down to 24000, I will drop about a hundred points, and a lot of users will go negative.
Yes SF, I am making the same point as you are.
But it does give users or certain users a chance to ask a bunch of silly questions they can simply look up, and Best Answering all of them because there is only one answer.

@Ninja: That calculation makes no sense! SF has 364 questions with Best Answer chosen; which would only make SF lose 1456 points.
No biggie for him at all.
While some users would take a drop,

Eg. ********** ( Don't want to embarrass anyone by showing names )  currently has 264 points, if this method was applied, they would have -72 points.

That's how easy it is for some users to just completely rack up from giving BA's. On purpose or not.
@ Sam sorry I miscalculated. I went of just the questions.
I completely disagree. I believe that the points should be given but only 2 points, not 4. That way, users can still get points.
Why should we get points for giving someone best answer?
Pokemaster took away points for GIVING up-votes for the same reason.
I know who that ********** is.
Well Josh, it still kinda negates the system. Then no-one would give best answer.
If people are only giving best answer to get points, why would we want them to give best answer?
Best answer is supposed to be a courtesy to the user answering, people still up-vote, don't they?
Josh is right; Best Answer is for the use of when somebody decides to visit an old question, they will see a reliable answer for that question, the Best Answer.
Pokemaster has said before that the whole reason he put points on the Battle subway is because it would be more encouraging to answer. I assume that the same is true for the best answer. Although points are trivial, everyone likes to feel important, and almost everyone is a bit competitive, which is why people desire points.
Although Speed, you're getting points for saying someone else's answer was good.
Points do drive you to do better, but people should give best answer and up-votes, due to what they're doing it on being a good, solid answer. When we took off points for up-votes, people still up-voted.
i think its a good idea as i said but is there a way to keep points  and maybe keep the rule untill your around 100-150 because then its to hard for new comers to get points
Blob, its fairly easy to get points as a newcomer. Just ask and answer in a good way and don't be an arrogant little b**** to others.
lol but maybe only give the 4 points if theres 2 answers i meen if theres only 1 thats to easy points maybe if theres 2
If you answered the question correctly, then you deserve BA. Simple as that.
@J98

Yeah I know I was cencored you don't have to. I'll take the drop and just make it up by earning them for real. The truth is the best answer bonanza awhile ago was to get points of course now I regret it and will remove some of them.

As mentioned elsewhere, I reduced it to 2 points for now. It may get removed in future though.
