Meta-PokéBase Q&A

Wall for Froggyfrogsock (page 4)

Honestly, I have no opinion either way. The rationale is mainly that it’s not necessary on the site and that there’s other ways to make it look good. The focus of the database is more to give accurate information, clearly and precisely, not to make it look good. I can see how it can potentially take away from a good answer, or become a big thing that needs moderation. I see your point too, where, it’s not that big of a deal for us to edit it out if it’s too much, or tell people to tone it down, but ultimately it would be extra work for mods with no major gain to the quality of the site, if that makes sense. In other words, it’s easier for everyone if we exclude it. Although, I’m not against allowing it in moderation, either.

How many times do I need to downvote you to go back to 68?

i went through and edited most of it out, and flagged some for later.

you're absolutely insane btw. i love your curiosity and drive to learn; it's really impressive. continue to nurture your curiosity and desire for knowledge. it's a skill not many people have- make sure you never lose it.

a bit later in life than you, but i'm trying to learn this stuff too. I went to college for computer programming. I'm still learning, so please feel free to show me what you've learned!
Fizz went to school for computer stuff, too. He's super knowledgeable of cyber security and website stuff. i know he's a big tough intimidating guy at times, but he's your man to ask about any curiosities. I ask him for help sometimes; i think he wouldn't mind if you asked him big questions from time to time.

additionally, while not website focused....
https://pokemondb.net/pokebase/user/Your+Excellency helped me with my homework; we made a space-shooter together.
https://pokemondb.net/pokebase/user/KRLW890 made her own pokemon fan-game called blooming beasts.

there's a lot of smart people on the database. keep asking questions, keep learning

hey froggy, you're allowed to use your hidden thread however you'd like! i'll let you know if that ever changes.

however, inline style, since it's purely cosmetic, it doesn't have much purpose on the database in public posts. staff has discussed it, and we're looking into formally banning the use of inline style. you're allowed to use it on your private thread, but no-longer on public posts. if you really feel like there's a need for inline style, you're allowed to ask us prior for permission, but fizz said it's likely going to be a no.

I'm wondering if you heard of neocities? i think you would like it! it's a site where you make your own website from scratch. I think you'd enjoy it, and it could be a great place for you to learn.
neocities.org
if you make a site, you should show it to me!

In the very early years there was a button on each answer that said something like "ask related question". It would put that text at the end of the new question and also auto-generate a comment on the answer.
