BSS is the main cartridge format for singles (but it also has a Showdown ladder). It gets updated rulesets every few months.

But there are dozens of singles formats that fit your description, so it doesn't narrow things down much.
For example, every Smogon singles meta fits that description (Ubers, OU, UU, etc) and so does BSS. All of those formats are different from each other, which is why we always ask you to be more specific.
It would help immensely if we didn't have to keep asking you. For example, if you want to play with Lycanroc, you could find which format it is effective in, then ask about that format.

Rock mono is bad enough where it loses to a majority of the metagame, but isn't worse than Fighting mono. You can still use Rock mono if you want, though.
For better types, consistent ones would be Flying, Water, Ground, Dark, Steel, and some others.

It's a Flying Balance team built around Dragon Dance Dragonite. Mantine, Celesteela, Landorus-T, and Galarian Zapdos are the ones who help with the rock matchup. Also, Rock Mono isn't common as its unfortunately one of the worse types in Monotype, along with Bug and Fighting mono.
