Pokémon Rate My Team

Ok, Rio and I talked about her going to 2013 Worlds, so we made a team together! I will not be in the battle, but I will in spirit! Here we go!

( Just for reference, rules of 2013 )

Whimiscott @ Leftovers

Trait: Prankster

EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spd

Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)

  • Tailwind
  • Protect
  • Helping Hand
  • Encore

After the DB tournament we had in doubles, I knew Tailwind was an immediate tool. The team was going to be all speed, after all. Tailwind is the immediate attack unless emergencies are present, because Whimiscott is likely going to be a threat-to-be-countered. Whimiscott can always use a free turn of no damage. We wanted Whimiscott to stay alive long, but Earthquake could screw us. So we chose Protect as a choice. Plus, Whimiscott will easily be a threat to others, making it a target. How wrong they are xD! We never actually saw Helping Hand's potential. Trent swept me with it. So, we took it on for the next Pokemon to sweep through with. The overstatement of Helping Hand cannot be expressed. Think not? Suck our Metagross. For the last prediction, set-up. Yeah, Encore takes care of that. We all know how annoying it gets. The big threats of SDance will hopefully be eliminated.

Metagross @ Life Orb

Trait: Clear Body

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd

Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)

  • Meteor Mash
  • Bullet Punch
  • Zen Headbutt
  • Earthquake

Ah, Bawsgross. Actually, no. Just Bawsin. Anyways, I saw Bawsin's immediate potential, it had to be done. We wanted a powerful STAB attack, so Meteor Mash came to mind. It offers an Attack boost with it, yay. The Psychic and Ice such as Reuniclus and Mamo came to mind, we were hoping Meteor Mash could deal with them. With a Tailwind boost and +2 Atk, Bawsin will be a monster. We also feared priority, so we brought our own. Bullet Punch might get the Atk boost of Meteor Mash, which is nice. It offers Priority and STAB, dealing huge power. Not as powerful as Meteor Mash, but more reliable. But what if a type resistant to Steel came in? We wanted another STAB attack to deal with those and the popular fighting guys like Infernape, so we grabbed the physical Psychic move Zen Headbutt. STAB gets put in, and flinch chance. Lastly, we wanted a powerful move to deal with Lucario or pokes like the uncommon Toxicroak. Earthquake. Nothing else to explain there, really.

Starmie @ Choice Specs

Trait: Natural Cure

EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd

Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)

  • Thunderbolt
  • Ice Beam
  • Surf
  • Psychic

Decided to add dat sexie Starmie as a full-on Special Sweeper. We saw people running walls as bulky waters or psychics, so Thunderbolt takes care of some of those. The chance of paralysis is in there, and base power is moderate. Then you get the Specs boost. I wanted really good coverage on one Pokemon, ah, who am I kidding. I wanted BoltBeam <3. Anyways, Ice Beam takes care of Haxorus, Hydreigon, and Salamence. (IMHO people will not run them... Ice is common this year.) It also completes the lovely BoltBeam. Specs boost + Freeze chance. We also needed a STAB attack, since the power levels would be a monster. So behold, the most powerful move of the set, Surf. Ninetales is a no-no, lol. Then we needed something to lower stats with STAB. She was thinking of Psyshock, but I wasn't too confident with it. So, Psychic. The set is 6C in a nut shell.

Snorlax (F) @ Leftovers

Trait: Thick Fat

EVs: 208 HP / 124 Def / 176 SDef

Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)

  • Body Slam
  • Fire Punch
  • Rest
  • Sleep Talk

We needed a Wall. Badly. We didn't want Reuniclus due to too much Psychic, so we thought for a while. Then it hit me. Phione. I thought harder. Mew's UU... Snorlax. Snorlax is weak to Fighting, but our others resist it! So we went straight to status. Body Slam is a paralysis chance + STAB. Oh yes. We also wanted something else to take on Ice and Whimiscott, so she decided Fire Punch. It isn't the best, but it offers decent coverage. We wanted to take advantage of paralysis, and heal. Rest came to mind. It is almost 100% survive while sleeping anyways. But hey, why risk it. Restalk! Sleep Talk says no to sleep, 2/3 chance will hit something. ( Major creds to Mew for this set btw, his RMT can be found here )

Noticeable counters:

  • Prankster
  • Status
  • Anti Psychic
  • Hazards...
  • Sun and other weathers.

We actually really enjoyed making this RMT. Hopefully the team goes far.

I suggest one more Tailwinder.
I suggest having six Pokemon on your team.
Only 4.
You should have six.
Holy  S*** F*** this is F***** awesome!
Also, Whimiscott doesn't need max Speed...
I just remembered this morning, Ninja.... You enter with 6, you use 4. So yeah, there is room for 2 more pokemon.
If I may point something out...In 2012, Trick Room teams were EXTREEMELY common. Just be careful, with such a fast team.
Bronzong with levitate walls that metagross .3.
Your whole team is walled by Specially Defensive Levitate Bronzong, with only Fire Punch hitting it for super-effective damage.
Shh....
