Pokémon Rate My Team

When I first started looking into mono-type teams, Poison really stood out to me as a very viable option due to having a variety of pokemon that are neutral to its only two weaknesses, as well as some that are flat out immune! I think my teams key member is probably the Drapion, but you'll see why when I get to him.

Anyways, here's the team:

Venusaur @ Venusaurite

Clorophyll (Thick fat)
EVs: 252HP/252Satk/4Defense
Modest Nature

  • Leech Seed
  • Synthesis
  • Giga Drain
  • Sludge Bomb

This thing has proven itself time and time again to be a huge member of the team (Both literally and in power). With THREE moves healing HP, some great bulk, and few weaknesses, its proven to be very hard to take down, while dealing a very scary amount of damage to anything that doesn't resist its double STAB

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge

Liquid Ooze
EVs: 252HP/252Sdef/4Satk
Calm Nature

  • Toxic Spikes
  • Rapid Spin
  • Scald
  • Protect

I can rely on my tentacruel to take pretty much any special hit, even super effective ones, and take very little damage. The main role, obviously, is to Take Special hits nothing else wants, and to Spin/ToxSpike. The Scald is a bit of a Pseudo-bonus, fishing for the burns on possible switches into physical hitters, or just dealing a bit of damage.

Venomoth @ Black Sludge

Wonder Skin
EVs: 252Hp/252Def/4Satk
Bold Nature

  • Quiver Dance
  • Baton Pass
  • Sleep Powder
  • Bug Buzz

This is where my team starts getting fun. Tell me, when was the last time you went up against a team with a Venomoth? Let me tell you, It may look silly, but this little wonder has proven to be one of the most important members of my team. Its very deceptively bulky, actually able to take most neutral physical hits incredibly well, and then most neutral Special hits incredibly well after a Quiver dance. The basic strategy is to Get as many Quiver Dances up as I can using Sleep powder when needed, then Baton passing to one of my special hitters (Usually Venusaur or Gengar). Wonder skin is an ability that many people hardly even remember, so when they see their Spore or taunt or whatever MISS...Its a very nice feeling.

Gengar @ Life orb

Levitate
EVs: 252Satk/252Spe/4Hp
Timid Nature

  • Shadow Ball
  • Sludge Bomb
  • Dazzling Gleam
  • Substitute

My first levitator that I will talk about. Having this gives me a good deal of freedom when facing up against something trying to EQ something on my team. Dual STAB/Dazzling gleam gives great damage and perfect neutral coverage. One of my prime receivers of a baton pass boost from Venomoth.

Weezing @ Black Sludge

Levitate
EVs: 252Hp/252Def/4Sdef
Bold nature

  • Will-o-wisp
  • Clear Smog
  • Flamethrower
  • Pain Split

Where would I be without this thing? With only ONE weakness, some crazy physical bulk, access to Will-o-wisp, and the ability to reset stats, Weezing is a fantastic member of this team. Capable of coming in to take any Physical hit (Especially Eq!), and then giving out a will-o-wisp to attempt to neuter the Pokemon dealing the EQ out. Flamethrower makes it into a prime counter to Things such as Scizor and Ferrothorn, while Pain split keeps it alive for longer than my opponent wants.

And lastly...

Drapion @ Choice Scarf

Battle Armor
EVs: 252Atk/252Spe/4Def
Adamant Nature

  • Earthquake
  • Poison Jab
  • Knock off
  • Pursuit

You may have been thinking to yourself "You have a lot of answers to Ground attacks, but what about Psychic? A single Alakazam could run through your entire team without breaking a sweat! And you would be mostly correct. My Drapion is the only thing capable of coming in on a psychic attack, but when it does man is it scary. The Unexpected Choice scarf makes it able to outspeed modest Mega Alakazam, so really, no psychic type is safe. The Double dark attack is for two reasons, First: Knock off is a very viable choice of attack even vs non-psychic types, and Second: Pursuit is great if I believe that my opponent either figured out that I'm scarfed and tries to get their (Obviously very needed) Psychic type out of there or if if I just know they want to get that pokemon out of there anyways. The other two attacks, EQ and Poison jab, are more replaceable (Especially Poison Jab) and are mostly there for additional coverage.

My Drapions name is Psi-Hunter. It has killed so many psychic types in the games I've played with it.

So what do you think of my team?

Venusaur

Fine.

Tentacruel

Might have to change this.

Nidoqueen @ Life Orb:
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Speed / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature

  • Sludge Bomb
  • Ice Beam
  • Focus Blast
  • Earth Power

It can answer Psychic Pokémon on the switch and due to sheer coverage, your opponent will fear it. It also loves Venomoth support.

Venomoth

EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Speed is more fit.

Gengar

Gengar @ Black Sludge:
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 248 SAtk / 8 HP / 252 Speed
Timid Nature

  • Substitute
  • Disable
  • Sludge Bomb
  • Shadow Ball

SubDisable Gengar is the best Gengar out of there.

Weezing

Have Taunt > Flamethrower.

Drapion

Scarfpion is a very bad idea overall.
Assault Vest is a better item for it. However, your moveset is fine.

I hope this helps!

tbh sub+3 attacks gengar is AT LEAST as good as subdisable
Why is Nidoqueen a Suitable change for a Special wall? Also, why would you run Nidoqueen over Nidoking?
How is investment into speed on Venomoth "More fit"? Wouldnt the loss of bulk be bad?
Sub Disable Gengar is something I should definitely look into, it looks interesting.
Flamethrower on Weezing Gives a needed Fire move that Kills those pesky 4x weak to fire mons that are so often part steel, but I will definitely think on adding taunt instead.
Scarfpion, while it may seem bad, has proven itself in pretty much every battle I've used it in to be a huge asset, outspeeding almost anything. An Assault vest, while making it more bulky, would not help me to take out Special Powerhouses like Alakazam before they get the chance to kill my one true answer to them
Nidoqueen is not a special wall but a special attacker that would abuse Venomoth more, giving the latter a more and more important role in the team. And Venomoth's loss of bulk is not very important because it doesn't have a good defense in the first lieu, and it needs speed for outspeeding some threat and inducing sleep. Flamethrower is a bit outclassed by Fire Blast but anyway Taunt will help you more facing leads especially. Scarfpion is not very fast,  but the punch in special defense allows surviving Focus Blast from an Alakazam with over half its HP while KOing back, and is unexpected. Surprise is an important factor in Pokémon, anyway.
The best thing about Mono-Poison is Toxic Spikes, it would be good if you could work that in. (I just gave the OP and Answer a cursory read, sorry if it is still in there)
Holy fu**
I forgot about Toxic Spikes.
I believe Weezing can either be replaced by Tentacruel for the job or have it left away, as some mono have grounded Poison Pokémon like Dragalge, Toxicroak, Roserade, Nidoking... who can stop it.
