Ok so I have barely played doubles in my life and I want to start it so is this a good first team?

The Trickster (Shuckle) @ Clear Amulet

Ok so this The Trickster Is the main sweeper here. After a power trick in trick room this thing will go first and annialate everyone with its gyro balls and STAB rock slides. As soon as trick room is up you can survive with sturdy and power trick. Oh but Freggles! Priority moves will OHKO this guy! oh but that’s why I brought….

Nurse Joy (Indeedee-F) (F) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Psychic Surge
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Follow Me
- Helping Hand
- Trick Room
- Psychic
Take that stupid priority! This thing can set trick room AND psychic terrain! Helping hand also makes Nurse Joy a good support Pokémon for the trickster. Overall this is one of the most important members of the team

Jockey (Calyrex-Ice) @ Clear Amulet
Ability: As One (Glastrier)
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD

Ok so this guy kills in trick room. Glacial lance is so good and with trick room on the set as well it can actually set trick room back up if Indeedee dies.

If the trickster goes down it all falls down to ursaluna. It’s moveset is full on hyper offensive (apart from protect) and it hits like a truck in trick room. Also minds eye is just OP

Turtl (Terapagos) @ Leftovers
Ability: Tera Shell
Level: 50
Tera Type: Stellar
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Tera Starstorm
- Earth Power
- Calm Mind
- Protect
Another extremely hard hitter in trick room. When it gos Tera it has 700 BST! Tera starstorm is STAB, Earth power is coverage and calm mind is for buffs

Ol’ man monke (Oranguru) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Inner Focus
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Instruct
- Trick Room
- Foul Play
- Protect
Also a good partner for trickster. Instruct is the main play here, you can maybe OHKO one Pokémon with gyro ball, but with Ol’ man monke you can kill BOTH of em! This also works with rock slide. If your unsure a rock slide will kill then simply instruct and all your problems will be solved.

Ok so that is my very first doubles team I hope I’m not doing anything completely wrong.

Ok instantly there's a big issue of no restricted pokemon to build around when you can have 2 of them, so your gonna have to add 2 or your team isn't gonna work against other people with restricted pokemon.
Ahh I see. I’ll try find a good restricted Pokémon to fit the team
Edit: just googled the best trick room restricted Pokémon in VGC and they seem to fit my team well enough
Changed it to natdex doubles bcs Shuckle is illegal in 2026 VGC reg I
Also the restricteds that I added are banned from natdex doubles so it’s back to the drawing board I guess
Calyrex isn't allowed in natdex doubles
