You can say something like last respects would technically have 300 base power, but it's effectively 600 because doubling damage does almost the same thing as doubling base power.

The damage calculation multiplies the move's base power by the user's level and attack stat, divides by the target's defense stat, and does a bunch of other things. Power modifiers (like the faint count for last respects) modify the base power before the game runs the damage calculation. Damage modifiers (like STAB and adaptability) modify the damage that comes out of the calculation. Does this make any sense?
