“So tell me, when did you first discover you could fly?”
“It all started when I was playing in the Black Forest. When my mom was looking to buy the house, the seller neglected to tell us there would be demons until the day we left for our new home. When we arrived, my mom passed out on the couch, tired from the exhaustion of moving. By then, I already forgot what the house seller said about the demons, and I went to explore the forest.”
“Interesting, not many girls I know would be daring enough to explore the Black Forest.”
“Anyways… I was playing there for a while, but then I heard a noise. A terrible noise. It was like a growl, coming from a foul beast. Soon, I found myself nearly surrounded by these black creatures. I don’t know what they were, but their teeth and claws were as apparent as day.”
“I see, you encountered the Demonals. Not many normal people escape from them alive, you should consider yourself lucky. Anyways, carry on.”
“I ran, as fast as I could. I somehow managed to lose them and I hid behind a tree. That’s when I saw a bright blue light coming from the inside of a tree. I investigated it, and soon, I was floating in the air. Then, the erm, Demonals you called them, they surrounded me again. I felt a pulse running through my body, and I thrust my arms and magic flew out and it destroyed them.”
“Peculiar. The land granted you magic. I suppose that sorta thing wouldn’t be abnormal for Fairytale Land. My powers were inherited from my parents; an archer with impeccable aim and a Swift-wing Fairy. It’s why they named me Arrow, with the hopes I would carry on the family honor with my powers.”
“My name’s Pixie, by the way.”
“That’s a cute name—”
“Actually, my real name is Liliana. I named myself Pixie because I can fly and magic plants stained my hair pink,” explained Pixie. “I felt I would fit in more with the bounty hunters if I had a name that was more resembling of the people living here.”
“Say, why did you decide to become a Bounty Hunter anyways?” asked Arrow. “Aren’t you a little… young?”
“Well, I saw an ad in the newspaper once, and I showed it to my mom. Mom let me do it so we can bring in more money, since mom’s job doesn’t really bring much in…”
“Wait, your mom APPROVED you doing this?! What kind of bad parenting- sorry, I got a little worked up there. Remind me, how old are you?”
“10,” Pixie replied.
“You’re 10 and you’re OKAY with killing people?! My parents didn’t let me become a Bounty Hunter until I was 13!”
“Eh, doesn’t really bother me too much.”
“I will give you a heads-up though, don’t be surprised if you come home and find your mom’s been gobbled up by a werewolf or your house has been torn apart by a bear. The creatures around these parts can be vicious.”
“I’m not worried,” said Pixie. “My mom’s father was a war veteran, so he taught her some war tricks. It’s part of the reason I became a Bounty Hunter, to have experience defending myself.”
“Wow, a human girl granted powers and has a mom who doesn’t die within the first few days of being here. You’re really setting out to create your own destiny, huh…”
“Yup. Say, why did you decide to become a Bounty Hunter?” asked Pixie.
“Well, my goal wasn’t actually to become a top-rank Bounty Hunter, even though I’ve been doing this for 3 years now, this is only a step to achieving my dream. Do you know about the Dark-Mane Horses?”
“Yeah, I think I’ve heard of ‘em.”
“The Dark-Mane Horses are the patrol forces of the White Castle, and they are menacing, intimidating forces. And maintaining those brutes are the Knights. My dream is to become a Knight; riding atop a Dark-Mane Horse and patrolling the White Kingdom.”
“You’re saying this as if anyone can just waltz in and become a Knight,” said a skeptical Pixie.
“Well, yeah, anyone can become a Knight,” explained Arrow, “but qualifying to become a Knight is extremely hard, as if the training regime isn’t hard enough already.”
“I see. Well, good luck on your dream!”
“Thanks. Now, I have to leave for my mission. Here, have some of my signature Swift-wing Arrows for some of your missions. Bye, Pixie.”
“Thanks. Bye…” said Pixie, starting to blush. “Oh god, am I BLUSHING?! Is my face red?! Nonono don’t tell me I’m starting to crush on Arrow! Eek he’s too old for meeee!”
“Hmm, what’s her problem?”
