Hey guys, hope this isn't too newb of a question as I am kind of new to the whole breeding thing. I thought I had it right but I my Aron didn't hatch with Iron Tail learned? Why not?

A Lvl 46 male Lairon was traded to me knowing Iron Tail, Autotomize, Protect and Metal Sound (in that order). A female Aron at Lvl 1 was also traded to me and didn't know any moves really and when I put the two to breed together, the hatch Aron didn't learn Iron Tail? Doesn't Aron learn it eventually? Why didn't it learn it?

Iron Tail isn't one of Aron's egg moves.

Look here for breeding info.

Sigh, this whole thing is sooo confusing to me. So I looked at the link you posted (thanks for that) and I would assume it's safe to say that not only is Iron Tail not on that list as an "egg move," but my hatched Aron also didn't learn the move because the mother didn't actually know Iron Tail because it was only Level 1 correct?

But if that's the case, then why is it that when I put a female Lvl 14 Meditite with a male Lvl 14 Kadabra to breed, the newly hatched Meditite didn't know Psycho Cut or hidden power? According to this site, it should learn it no? http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Meditite_%28Pok%C3%A9mon%29

Or does the Kadabra actually have to know the move at Lvl 40 before breeding with the Meditite AND it has to be an egg move for Meditite in order for the hatched Meditite to know Psycho Cut? I don't care for these moves, I'm just trying to get a better understanding of why moves sometimes come out when I breed and the sometimes not, thanks for the help.
If you want MediMedi (sorry, I always call Meditite that) to know Psycho Cut, the father physically needs to know the move. So, in your 3rd paragraph, you explained it perfectly.
That's one of the things that I don't understand. they're both steel-types, and in the same evolution chain, so why is it not one of the egg moves? But Aron does learn it later. Also, another detail that doesn't apply to the games is that Lairon is really heavy, so I'm not sure how it could use iron tail as well as other light-weight pokemon.
