Who is better: Mega Absol or Mega Houndoom?

Mega Absol:
Pros:

• 150 Base Attack coupled with 110 Speed makes it a fast physical sweeper.
• It could also run mixed sets with 110 Special Attack.
• Access to STAB Sucker Punch as well as STAB Knock Off. Also pulls of STAB Pursuit.

Cons:

• Movepool is shallow. Sometimes it will have to rely on moves like Fire Blast.
• 60 / 60 / 60 defenses gets it killed easily.

Absol @ Absolite
Ability: Justified --> Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 HP / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
- Play Rough
- Superpower / Knock Off / Pursuit

You could also use Fire Blast but tweak the EVs and use another nature.

Mega Houndoom:
Pros:

• 140 Special Attack and 115 Speed. Though doesn't hit as hard as Absol can physically, it is faster.
• Solar Power makes this thing have pseudo-Choice Specs. Doom is exactly right.
• Great offensive typing (Dark lets it actually put a hole In Jellicent)

Cons:

• Weak to Stealth Rock.
• Ability requires sun which fades away after awhile. It also makes MegaDoom lose staying power.

Houndoom @ Houndoomnite
Ability: Flash Fire --> Solar Power
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Sunny Day / Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast
- Dark Pulse
- Solarbeam / Hidden Power [Ice]

I personally would use Mega Houndoom, especially after seeing these calc, credit to Smogon.

252 SpA Solar Power (custom) Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Jellicent in sun: 203-239 (50.37 - 59.3%) -- 78.52% chance to 2HKO
252 SpA Solar Power (custom) Fire Blast vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Latias in sun: 170-201 (56.29 - 66.55%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Solar Power (custom) Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Vaporeon in sun: 223-263 (48.16 - 56.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Mega Absol

Pros: Has Magic Bounce as it's Ability so it is able to bounce back Status Moves. Has fantastic Attack, Special Attack and Speed at 150, 115 and 115 respectively. Immune to Psychic types. Resists Dark and Ghost types. Okay Move Pool.

Cons: Has frail Defences. It's HP is 65 and it's Defence and Special Defence is 60. Has three Weaknesses which are to Bug, Fighting and Fairy types.

Mega Houndoom

Pros: Has Solar Power as it's Ability. Fantastic in Sun. Has 140 in Special Attack and 115 in Speed. Above average Defence and Special Defence. Immune to Psychic types. Resists Ghost, Steel, Fire, Grass, Ice and Dark types.

Cons: Has four Weaknesses which are to Rock, Ground, Water and Fighting types. Not very good Move Pool. Receives more damage from Spikes and Stealth Rock.

In my opinion I'd go with Mega Houndoom over Mega Absol. But that's not to say Mega Absol isn't good and shouldn't be used at all because Mega Absol is still a fantastic Pokémon :)

Absol has a okay Move Pool, it's average at very least.

Absol has a very poor movepool. Its only physical competitively viable moves aside from Dark is Play Rough and Superpower.
Houndoom, on the other hand, makes use out of a larger movepool as it can get more out of Hidden Power. It also gets other moves like Solarbeam for the Sun, Sludge Bomb, and Shadow Ball.

What about Stone Edge, Psycho Cut, X-Scissor, Shadow Claw, Megahorn, Rock Slide, Zen Headbutt and Ariel Ace? Granted I wouldn't use several of them competitively but Stone Edge can counter Bug types and Psycho Cut can counter Fighting types.

Yeah I agree with you then but it still has about an average Move Pool compared to Pokémon such as Houndoom and Arcanine who don't really learn many Moves at all. It's a shame too Houndoom and Arcanine are really good Pokémon :)
