Should I equip my Talonflame with a Choice band and use Brave bird, or should I set up with Swords Dance first, and then use it?

So if he has BA and 2 downvotes then that means he has no points. I better answer it then :3
the Flying Gem is unreleased in gen VI, isn't it?
It does exist but i think you will have to use rock slide in caves when you are in battles
Had 5 downvotes, I think I'm doing you a favour from preventing any more (Shinyfire's answer)

Talonflame

One of Game Freaks most amazing creations. One of the best. It's been known to rip teams apart, with its infamous combo, Brave Bird + Gale Wings + STAB. It can do amazing things, like this

Okay, probably not that, but it can run a really good support set with Tailwind and WoW(not World of Warcraft). Okay, enough of this little intro, let's get to the fun part!

Personally, I would prefer Leftovers instead of Focus Sash on Talonflame. Why? I'll tell you. You see, when Talonflame uses Swords Dance when it's Sash activates, it's got one shot at defeating the opponent because you have 1HP left and the 2 moves it mostly uses have Recoil. I will now show you a good set with the Lefties instead of a Sash, and another set with the Choice Band:

Lefties set:

Talonflame @ Lefties
Trait: Gale Wings
Adamant Nature
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 SpD
Moves:
- Roost: Good for healing when Talon takes recoil damage from its attacks
- Flare Blitz: STAB, chance to burn, insane power
- Swords Dance: Sweeper Mode, activate
- Brave Bird: 'Nuff said

And now for the Choice Band set:

Talonflame @ Choice Band
Trait: Gale Wings
Jolly/Adamant Nature
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 SpD
Moves:
- Flare Blitz: STAB, insane power, chance to burn
- U-Turn: When you're up against something that counters you
- Brave Bird: Again, 'nuff said
- Return: Amazing power when you have max friendship and a Choice Band :3

Hope I helped!

+1 for the picture :D
Steel Wing > Return, there is no point in having Return seeing as how if you resist brave bird (Steel types) then you will resist return. at that point there is more reason to use Flare blitz, also flare blitz is a better option than return is when you want to hit electric types because it has more damage and STAB.
Jordan_9 Rotom Wash resist the choice band set with you replace return with steel wing.

Great Pokemon to use, everyones favourite in game bird Pokemon! Its good in competitive battles, not perfect but good enough, thanks to its signature ability Gale Wings(but thats it hidden ability, so you have to head to a friend safari but I have a spare to give away) , it gives priority in flying type moves anyway, Im don't know that much about "Choice Items" but I found a set that'l make it up for your flareing hawk or falcon thing! (Note: I didn't create this set, this is just a recomended set.)

Talonflame @ Flying Gem
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
Moveset:
-Flareblitz
-Acrobatics
-Swords Dance
-Roost

Like I said up there, Gale Wings give priority to flying type moves so that means they always go first and so a Jolly nature for this set is pretty much useless, Flareblitz has nice power and has STAB but causes a big recoil though. With the Flying Gem comsumed befor Acrobatics is used, Talonflame has no item which makes Acrobatics a little more powerful along with STAB, priority and since that move does more damage if the user loses its item so then Acrobatics can be very deadly. Swords Dance boosts attack by 2 makeing Flareblitz and Acrobatics a very fatal threat and last but not least, Roost heals damage from both Flareblitz's recoil and other damage. THE END!
